Welp, there goes $1,200 towards a new computer. Still have to pay for the video card and PSU (another $320 or so), but with any luck I'll have everything ready to install before the end of January! At long last my 10 year old machine will be replaced with newer technology! With potential to be upgraded beyond what it will have! Board I bought just needs a BIOS update to handle any new Ryzen CPUs that come out, as opposed to my current board which is maxed out (except on RAM, but that's old tech)

Hot diggity, I found... most of the missing components to my old gaming desktop! Still missing a mouse and keyboard, but I've got the receiver (and xbox controller receiver) plugged into a USB hub so I can just swap that between laptop and desktop as needed. And it still runs! Only problem is... half my games aren't working right due to needing internet to verify games are a valid install for some reason. ...and this thing is ethernet only. With the only network jacks 1 floor down on the router.

Question for the instance (or others!) If I were to replace my desktop, would this be a decent build? https://pcpartpicker.com/list/pQQgZZ I'm not looking to run ultra high graphics stuff, but still want to at least be able to play games with decent visuals

Aw nuts the only device I own that can run GTA V is a desktop that needs serious updating (and a keyboard/mouse that hasn't been salvaged for a laptop)

Thoughts of being wrapped up in the coils of a big fluffy noodle dragon as it uses hypnosis on me to make me temporarily forget everything except the dragon, how soft and warm and welcoming it is. Nothing else matters except for how comfortable I am, so relaxed I could even fall asleep. The world can wait, my troubles can wait, all that matters is the dragon's warm embrace.

Oof that meatloaf I had turned out to be at least 50% pork sausage. I love sausage, but that turned out to be a LOT of sausage, and I need something to wash that all down with. Milk or coffee or something other than water.

How we may be earning more money than our parents, but we're also paying WAY more than they did at our age, using 1970 and 2020 as baseline years for price comparisons (given most boomers would be in their 20's-30's in the 70's, and most millenials are in their 20's-30's today.) Federal minimum wage went up 453% in 50 years, sure, but that's pennies compared to how much housing and education went up. Median prices on housing (in America at least) went up nearly a whopping 1,400% in price, rent is up a whopping 1,500%, and education? A STAGGERING 3,000% in average cost of a 4 year degree. Boomers can fuck right off with their bullshit "work harder" advice. The blatant lie that was trickle-down economics can fuck right off.

If I HAVE to be a binary gender then I demand that my gender have at LEAST 4 bits to it! None of this single bit 1 or 0 bullshit. My gender cannot be properly represented as anything LESS than 1000! Of course, to properly represent my gender requires a full 8 bits, and ALL of them are fuzzy (can be either 1 or 0 at any given point) :D

Seeing all these VRChat photos pop up in my feed makes me really want to install and run the program D: I'm living vicariously through friends' photos in the meantime though! <3

I had my dad's Christmas present mailed to my parents' place since I didn't think it would arrive at mine in time for my sister to pick up and take to them (I can't go due to the pandemic and my mom being high risk.) They got it a lot sooner than I expected, so my mom had my dad wrap his own gift, still in the mailing packaging, without him knowing it was from me to him. I thought that was hilarious :D
