So I had this horrible thought;

The late Nichelle Nichols was a competent actress playing a competent character who was frequently downplayed. But this was during a not just a racist but a horribly *sexist* chunk of time. I think a white woman would have been expected to be a pretty chunk of scenery, but a Black woman would be expected unfairly to be a far more competent actress and expected to be okay with the idea of being a background character. Terrible shit overlapping gave us someone really cool as the only regularly appearing woman on old Trek.

apparently I have become someone who yells "I hope you get cancer and the chemotherapy doesn't work" at a certain public figure on the radio. I don't feel good about this, but then, if anyone from his party had something resembling compassion or ethics, maybe I wouldn't be have to question that one.

tonight's project is making harissa. So far I've improvised a mortar and pestle and set off the Using the Oven Alarm. This is the first time I've roasted red pepper. I think in the future, I'm gonna just buy the premade from Trader Joe's, which among other things should keep from setting off the Using the Oven Alarm.

does everyone else get the same feeling of "the chance of really improving my life is about nil, my day's come and gone, and I'm basically waiting to die" or is that an old person only thing? I have no clue how to better cope with it in 6 months let alone 5 years.

England is kinda crappy, but you don't SAY that, it's just not done. One of the predictable rightwingers who make England crappy is on about forbidding saying it. Which means the English really dislike that too, because PUNISHING people for saying it, is also just not done.
