movie quotes, death
I've seen things you people couldn't imagine. Attack ships on fire off the shores of Orion. I've seen C-beams glittering in their armor off the Tannhaueser Gate. And now all these memories will be lost, like tears in the rain. Time to die.
... I was gonna mash that up with Spock's last words and Rick's mansplainy harangue from Casablanca, but naw. Some things should stay sacred maybe.
soundtrack, if we're living in the dystopian cyberpunk future why isn't it raining damnit, also wanting sushi
just like ev'ry autumn, leaves fall from the trees
tumble to the ground and die
so in the springtime like sweet memory
they will return, as will I
like the sun, dear, up on high
we'll return to the sky
and we'll banish the pain and the sorrow
until tomorrow, goodbye

movie quotes, listening to soundtrack while filling out ultra-super-long background check
"Do you like our owl?"
"It's artificial?"
"Of course it is."
"Must be expensive."
"Very."
"It seems you feel our work is not a benefit to the public."
"Replicants are like any other machine, they're either a benefit or a hazard. If they're a benefit, it's not my problem."
"May I ask you a personal question?"
"Sure."
"Have you ever retired a human by mistake?"
"No."
"But in your position that is a risk?"

seriously, this makes me feel like going up into the mountains, into the forests, to die in a place that feels like home. That's how good it is.
Some from yesterday and this morning, trying to work ideas from mechanical #drawings back into figure drawing. Some videos suggested working on faces very small as an exercise to focus on key features.
and drifting off to sleep, my brain threw out a dumb idea; what if the association of werewolves and full moons is incidental? That hybrid wolfman/crinos/etc form has better night vision than a human (and humanish color vision), but still needs more light to operate effectively?
So not only are werewolves more observable during the full moon, but they're also actually more active in hybrid form.
Urgent (<24 hrs) Seattle area asylum seeker housing (pls boost)
From an email:
I am representing an asylum seeker who is being held at the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac. We have a bond hearing set for Wednesday morning, but the potential sponsor has fallen through at the last minute. Client is male, Latino, no kids, and comes across to me as a sweet Boy Scout. He’s deeply religious.

Today, I've wandered into a big pit of fear that shut my brain down, and a big realization about my baggage... after a small realization yesterday, after Saturday's huge amount of cracking my issues.
This is definitely "talk to your shrink about this" territory, though I can't afford a therapist at the moment.
* sighs * I hit one of those temporary bad patches, all fear and shame and doubt, and just as I was about to go do dishes (and I really should do that!) instead I found YouTube videos of Iain McCaig talking and started watching/listening.
And it's more magical than any film he's worked on (there are some very good ones in there!). He really makes me feel like we're together on a decades-long adventure where we tell each other amazing stories.

y'know phrased as "Meet the Yeen Family" that suggests some sort of sitcom. Probably from the mid-90s, when we had a dinosaur sitcom.

Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
