So I just explained Morgoth as “Melkor decided he’d had it, changed his name, got some piercings, and got top surgery,” as part of explaining the Silmarillion as a transition from light to trees to gemstones which are constantly getting lost or fought over, to the extent that the elves you actually meet in LotR are mostly “dark elves” and the Silmarils are mythical even to them.

it will be all right to just say something cryptic about how awesome Dean Cornwell was but also https://www.instagram.com/richardwhitters/ and https://www.instagram.com/falco.png/ are really awesome.
spoiler ish
Bonus; they explain why the Yautja are that into collecting skulls and spines and it makes midichlorians look like a good canon explanation. Although it turns out Yautja have dreds because they’re SENSORY ORGANS, which is very postfurry.
Omg we watched The Predator and I was expecting to be squicked by bloodshed or triggered by jump scares but I didn’t expect it to be so utterly goofy! It’s like something made in 1987 with better special effects and it made Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom look boringly plausible. I can’t recommend this movie enough!
“You really are gonna make me watch Point Break.”
“You’ll love two thirds of it.”
“‘It’s got Keanu’ isn’t the selling point I thought it was.”
“You’re saying he’s like Christian Bale.”
“No! Christian Bale is in lame movies like Batman. Keanu is in movies like Little Keanu, Keanu Reloaded, Keanu Revolutions and Keanu and Keanu’s Fantastic Adventure.”

1) Trivia repeated from elsewhere; thanks to the biblical references in Raiders of the Lost Ark, I thought the heroine’s name was “Miriam” for the longest time.
2) I think the original title is better since “Indiana Jones AND THE” downplays that Indy is one of the several raiders in question.
3) aha! Turns out there are two Neolithic barrows near Hazelton. They would have been excavated about the time Raiders was in production. Wonder why they chose that reference?
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
