Soooo. Subtooting a couple of the Seattle people I know talking about islands, aquatic stuff. If I ever made it north, would people be up for taking the ferry to the peninsula? I used to do that sometimes well over a decade ago, but it’s way better as a roadtrip/boat ride with someone else.

I love what I’ve heard of Thelonious Monk’s work, but I didn’t have/hadn’t previously played his “Brilliant Corners” album.

I do have RHCP’s “Out in LA” album and one track I play a lot for probably obvious cranky reasons is “FU,” which turns out to be Monk’s “Bemsha Swing.”

So I’m trying out the original instrumental, which btw is great, and my mind fills in RHCP’s lyrics.

Okay so Lilo and Stitch is about outcast misfits building themselves a family when everyone else leaves them behind. It makes me cry.

Moana didn’t make me cry. It consistently makes @Oneironott weep.

Therefore I conclude whenever Disney makes a Polynesian related movie at all, it’ll be a tear-fest for someone!

I used to work near the plant, in Fremont. Now and then wannabe workers or supervisors would stop by the Starbucks I’d use to sit out the worst of rush hour. Their interactions gave an impression of something being very off, like if Amazon tried to push working in their Distribution Centers as the best job ever. Stacked badly with elitist, nepotistic coworkers driving Teslas.

Add that anecdotal stuff to what I *know* about Tesla and Musk, and.

OH YEAH I'MA GO TO A VAGUELY EUROPEAN FESTIVAL. I can hear flamenco guitar playin' already, and I can't wait to wolf down loukamades while watching caber tossing. Presumably outside so I can get a hugely terrible sunburn.

Oh right, the way people commemorate the vaguest possible description of European ancestors (you know, like what practically all African Americans have) is apparently by being a MASSIVE JERK. I'd way rather eat loukamades while watching caber tossing.

I feel connected to my Swedish ancestors. I TANGENTIALLY like music which pulls on Scandinavian history and pagan mythology (there's a lot of music I like which has nothing to do with where my people came from. Music is music. It's bigger than ANY culture.)

I don't feel anything about being "white" (if I qualify, that's a complete other ethnic rant). Ooooh, my ancestors are from EUROPE and therefore I get terrible sunburns, that sure says a lot about me doesn't it?

So I did some drawings and feel like that’s cleared up some problems I had thinking through quadruped anatomy. But, I just feel bad right now, like a total fuckup with no future.

Look, if you have an accent and an out of state number please don’t call me about jobs;

1) I or someone like me could have had your job except it got farmed out of the US, because someone was cheap, nepotistic or both

2) since you’re not local there’s little chance you understand commute or salary for this region and

3) experience suggests you have a metric you’re trying to meet, not a viable job opportunity. I have no spoons to waste on paperwork for your not-a-job.

Once again it is naptime, yet with no easy way to curl up somewhere and pass out for 15-30. The *real* reason I mostly was a hyena in furry fandom, the whole pass out anywhere thing.

Despite how much I adored this thing for being a really doofy cheese fest,

1) it bothers me that Shan Liwen, initially established as Newt’s vaguely racist asshole boss, and who sets the story going because she’s basically a greedy cheap CEO, suddenly becomes this unquestioned heroine as soon as she hops in a Jager and starts welding rockets to crap.

2) there’s a statement in the movie about “Don’t let others define you, you may not like where that takes you.”

It’s surprising that there are Israeli, Iraqi and Lebanese black metal groups all apparently skeeved off at Judaism and Islam as their familial religions.

It’s kinda inspiring that the black metal community largely responded to neo-Nazi members with “what part of we’re individuals and hate societal marching in lock step did you not get?”

And I am *still* lacking a good definition for “atmospheric black metal.”

About 0630 or so I used the bathroom, and tried to sleep more before work. The rain surged in intensity but all there was to do is stay put and stay warm so I got back to sleep. Then it turns out that surge in intensity was 3-8 mm dia hailstones.
