very tangentially uspol adjacent, question

@starkatt We've only actively paid any sort of attention to news in the past couple years, so we don't have the most experience understanding how to best deal with things.

very tangentially uspol adjacent, question

@starkatt That might be a good idea.

very tangentially uspol adjacent, question

@starkatt we tend to think that if there's no such thing as a neutral source, at least one that spins things in a direction we generally agree with would cut down on the anxiety, maybe

very tangentially uspol adjacent, question

So I want to know something, if someone can answer:

Is the Daily Kos considered a reliable news source? Our parents were just telling us about how you can't always believe the news (you _should_ be able to...) and how every news source puts a spin on it...

But this was in the context of trying to get us to not look at the news so much because it always causes anxiety spikes, but we feel like we need to know what's happening, so I don't know...

@Mycroft This is from personal experience, and looking at how 'item' is used in set phrases like "line item" vs how it's used in tabletop games and video games.

It's interesting how the word item has changed its meaning in subtle but distinct ways since the rise of tabletop games, and later video games. It's not as generic as "object", though I believe it used to be.

oh, apparently some ps3 games (and probably some ps4 games too) don't support it. So not the entire library, but a lot of it at least.

It's kind of a shame that neither the ps3 nor the vita can do ps2 games, because otherwise it'd be possible to play the entire playstation library from ps1 to ps4, including the psp and vita, on the vita.

The ps vita has a neat feature that lets it remote into a ps3 or ps4 and allow you to play games on the ps3/4 using the vita as both screen and controller. I wonder if that's just a thin client, or if the vita does any processing on its end of things.

Today I learned that Romancing SaGa 2 got its first ever English release on the Switch eshop last December. We should play that!

meta question

@lizardsquid okay! I just thought that might be a straightforward way of learning.

meta question

@lizardsquid Would you like me to block you temporarily so you can find out?

racism in game design

@Daylight @lizardsquid @puppy@chitter.xyz You should play morrowind! It's our favorite in the series. Though we haven't played ESO; mmos don't interest us.

other problems with khajiit

@lizardsquid @Daylight And so were the argonians, oddly enough.

We never knew this, but apparently the character designer of at least several Dragon Quest games is the same person who's behind the Dragon Ball series.

No context: "Well, putting 12V into that USB port probably won't make it work _better_."

Heh, best science metaphor of the day: Black holes are a bit like babies, about half of what they try to eat ends up splattered all over the room.
