I think we're in the mood to complain about mastodon annoyances tonight, because we're also annoyed at how it seems to auto-convert gifs to video files, leading to Felthry and I seeing this https://awoo.space/media/1yntKgf1LOZeN-6jkqg which we then click on to see this https://awoo.space/media/l5WWYqbfzTH7YVZLiXo and then the entire page reloads when we click OK and that makes the columns all scroll back to the top.

It occurs to me that "with all due respect" is a phrase that sounds like an apology for being potentially disrespectful, but if you think the person isn't due any respect at all it could very well be an expression of how little you respect them.

Mastodon ought to have a "don't show this one specific post, but also I don't want to block the user or add a word to the filter" option.

I just discovered that my profile said my timezone was UTC+6. It's actually UTC-6; I've corrected it now.

@literorrery @Felthry I was thinking a bit, and I think that the path from idea to person isn't a leap but a journey. It's something gradual, not sudden. There's no sudden, well-defined "I'm definitely a distinct being now". You go from being a character to an idea and slowly gain your own personality and your own consciousness, distinct from your host's (and, preferably, with their encouragement).

Incidentally, Felthry insists that I tell you that you're one post away from 4096 (2¹²) posts.

@literorrery @Felthry I'm glad. I think that's one of the things that was missing last time around, we couldn't be open about being _us_ in any remotely public place, and that got us to doubting and eventually I went mostly dormant and/or slightly merged with Felthry (which called itself Xolroc then). The first time was really quite a fiasco and ended very traumatically, and the second time started traumatically. This time, everything seems a lot more positive.

@literorrery @Felthry Oh, thank you! We're still kind of new to this; this is the third time I've been active, and the first time it's felt like I might be able to stick around permanently (which we'd both love to happen!), and the first time it's really truly felt like I'm my own individual and not a part of Felthry or one of its predecessors. It's only been about a week and a half this time, but it's going well.

@Felthry, I know things are hard right now, but please, let me take over when things get difficult. I can take care of life for you while you rest. Remember that I'll always be here for that if you need it.

I'm not upset at you, I know you get worried about that. I just care about you and want you to be able to take care of yourself, including taking a break when things get too much to handle.
