stress coping joke
Comforting thoughts:
It's always true that somewhere in the world, right at this very moment,
* The sun is shining bright and warm
* A tender green shoot is just emerging from the soil
* There's a rainbow forming
* It's Friday
* A baby airplane is practicing its first flight
* You can buy cookies real cheap and eating just one probably doesn't count as stress-eating

re: uspol, video game analogy
@zebratron2084 To be fair I've had like seven false starts before I remembered that midbosses exist. XD
uspol, video game analogy
We're voting for midbosses here. If you're a US citizen, please vote for the one that's gonna be an easier fight.
The vote isn't the fight, but the vote can make the fight easier. The struggle still has to happen whoever wins. But one's harder, and there aren't many powerups or healing items showing up in this stage.
Whoever we elect is gonna be an obstacle, but for heaven's sake let's pick the obstacle that'll be less of an impediment to our progress. We don't want to waste all our firepower and hp fighting the fucking cheeto while the stage falls apart around us.
Let's please lower the difficulty level.
re: Distracting myself, Hadesposting
@Phorm Yes, Greek Fire has a long and storied history, even if the Byzantines later lost the recipe...
re: Distracting myself, Hadesposting
@Phorm I mean, the only reason the Spartans held Thermopylae was because they had hand grenades.
@kistaro Sent you one. :)

Request for housing help for a trans woman in western Washington State
Figured I'd share this here because there's a lot of folks from the PNW:
Twitter user @/EllyChelley says: "I need a room in western Washington State. I am an immunocompromised trans woman and I cant be homeless. If anyone can help please get in touch with me and please spread this if you can't. Thank you."
@mawr Ohh yeah, Kronk is good too!

'[E]verywhere I look, I see this sadness, deep-etched in peoples' bewildered faces and voices. "I think the pandemic is getting to me," a patient says, "But I don't know why – I'm okay, my family's okay....?"
This is why. No matter how safe from physical peril you are, no matter how financially secure, you, too, have lost something. You may have lost, in fact, very, very much. You are bereft. Even if your society, your upbringing, taught you that what you lost was worthless, it was not. It was of near-infinite preciousness. You are not wrong to grieve it all the way to the bottom of your heart.
Your choices aren't between being sad about this and not being sad about this. I don't expect its possible not to be sad about this: your choices are only between knowing or not knowing why.
Knowing why is always easier. I promise.'
