Update: Have already seen one purple finch using the feeder, two sparrows checking it out, and a thrush of some flavor sampling the suet.
I thought it was supposed to take a week for them to find new feeders?

Wake up, go to get breakfast, discover that two Stellars Jays are waiting for signs of human activity, staring at the back porch.
Okay, fair, toss out a peanut for each of them. They grab them, fly off, and less than a minute later they're back and looking expectantly at the door.
That's not enough time for them to actually eat a peanut. So I wait and sure enough, they fly off again and I hear the noises of peanuts being disassembled in the tree outside.
Nice try, guys.
mh still not great
Weeded the shit out of the front yard after I got back home. From hell's heart I stab at thee with a $30 weeding tool, dandelions. Later when I have things planted this will be important, right now it's just a dry run.
You know that thing about how "working on something will make you feel better" - It's not actually true.

"You're just a cosplay snake. All scalies are the same right?"
"So I can call you a mola-mola capybara then."
"That's totally different. But now I kinda want to get someone to draw that."

(Video contains one crow on pavement engaged in disassembling a peanut, then absconding with it)
@angrboda Happy Birthday!

So I managed to trigger a partial flashback on the way home today. How, I have no idea. Maybe it was just a random one, I'm not sure.
I've had a lot of practice dealing with these over the years, so the good news is that I'm only clocking in at "emotionally shaky" and not "absolutely devastated". Bad news of course it's that these are still just kinda happening...
Rare coastal dragoness, often found by sunny sea cliffs. Nonbinary but fairly femme-leaning. If you're under 18 don't follow.
