dream, friendly/aggressively recruiting group mind

one of the other Stage 1 hosts was a teenage girl who was burbling that she'd just joined for the concert, it was going to be AMAZING, absolutely EVERYBODY would be there, and after that she's just quit! we all laughed at her, very gently and kindly, and I dreamily (because I was dreaming) explained that she was in the group mind now, and there was no going back and away, only forward and deeper...

the group mind had gotten me with a physical virus, in the early stages of development (one of their "drones" had stabbed me in a fight). by now it was on the second stage of spreading, via memetic devices, both random (posters in public areas) and directed ("go tell all your friends!"). the hive node was preparing for the third stage of infection, which was happening in a couple of days--a memetic signal in a massively popular televised concert.

like the CW says. I'd been "recruited" into the group mind, but I was still in stage 1, my mind was being integrated but I was still individual enough to feel attached to my body. I came to the local hive node because I was feeling physically distressed, and they cheerfully took me in, wrapped me in a warm blanket (which felt AMAZING), and put me in a quiet room with other stage 1 semi-individuals, and we talked a bit.

@zebratron2084 @Leucrotta whatever the ingredients, it ends up getting strained through a black fishnet stocking with big holes.

This picture was taken at the G7 meeting today

I've never seen the phrase "listen up you little shit" rendered quite so perfectly as a facial expression

apropos of nothing: i am so, so very proud of you. yes, all of you. and specifically you, the one reading this.

"but--"

yes. even if. you've been through a lot (and yes, that counts, quit interrupting me) and i'm glad you've made it this far.

@JulieSqveakaroo @001zlnv I would be very interested in your report of what is actually entailed!

TIL There are mini truck garden contests in Japan

The “kei” trucks are barely larger than city cars. The goal is to build the most aesthetically pleasing garden in the truck bed

tongue-in-cheek subtoot

@001zlnv @zebratron2084 I just giggled for about two minutes straight because of this story, thank you. XD

tongue-in-cheek subtoot

@zebratron2084 and also fwiw HPMOR delves specifically into a lot of the ways in which the original HP universe is fucked the fuck up.

tongue-in-cheek subtoot

@zebratron2084 fwiw I don't actually like it much--I don't hate it, but I'm definitely not a fan. I'm just re-reading HPMOR and it's bringing up thoughts again. XD

@kara@occult.camp I suspect Very Well, with just a smidge of bickering about how to properly organize the library. ;)

What will your Animagus form be?
"a dragon."
It can't be a magical creature.
"a velociraptor."
It also can't be an extinct creature.
*siiigh* "CROW."

that's... pretty much exactly how it would run in my head.

and not related to anything in particular but heres another sabertoothed animal and hes really pretty. Critter is gorgonopsid a stem mammal from the permian ( i think)
