volunteering, wildlife rehab, mild animal injury
I got to watch (though I haven't progressed to helping yet, heh) one of the vets prepping a barred owl for a radiograph. when she brought it back (limp and groggy, but after a couple of minutes it was groggily fighting her and deemed recovered enough from the sedative) I asked how it was doing. evidently it was hit by a semi (!) and ended up in the truck's wheelwell (!!!) and is apparently COMPLETELY UNINJURED. that is one *lucky* owl!
volunteering, wildlife rehab, mild animal injury
the autumn slowdown continues. we're getting more birds in the ward, mostly migratory birds hitting windows, and then (fairly often) being attacked by cats. I asked if this was a seasonal thing, or if people were just bringing them in more often, and was told that it's a migratory bird thing, which makes sense. birds unfamiliar with city life come down where there's abundant food and shelter, and then have unpleasant learning experiences...

@mawr I just brought home a refill for my antidepressant and WHOAH it looks different, so... this is extremely useful, thank you. :| I'll have to track my emotional state carefully for the next couple of weeks...
@zebratron2084 @starkatt makes perfect sense to me. "this is not a pipe." the map is not the territory.
@InspectorCaracal@tootplanet.space I have no idea how the Thelemic parents fared, they were friends-of-boyfriend who I completely lost touch with once I broke up with him, but they had the future baby's room all decked up with silver-on-blank tapestries and crystal skulls.
I used to know a lot of folks who had survived various flavors of homeschooling, they generally turned out all right, though a bit strange in some ways. XD
@InspectorCaracal@tootplanet.space yeah, my west coast experience with folks who were homeschooled were almost exclusively the hippie-vegan types, though there were some "THE SCA IS A VIABLE LIFESTYLE ALTERNATIVE" and "we're Mensa and our kids are geniuses and we can't let them get ~tainted~ by mingling with ~commoners~" varieties. the closest I heard of to fundamentalist homeschooling was the couple that were planning on homeschooling their kid in the Thelemic tradition/faith, which was... CREEPY
@vahnj *snickersnort* yeah, I think I'm going to stop following it; I've gotten about as much amusement as I think I can get from it. XD

@zebratron2084 *snort* and raccoons would be *better* at critical thinking and decision-making? "oooh, this looks like food! better stick it in water to wash it off!" *piece of bread disintegrates* "awwww...." XD
PSA about prescription drug manufacturers
If a drug you're prescribed changes in appearance, it's usually because the pharmacy switched to a different manufacturer.
If you're feeling off and your meds changed appearance, it could be the meds! Check online reviews of that manufacturer and drug to see if anyone else is reporting similar symptoms. Arm yourself with knowledge!
You can look up the pill by shape, appearance & markings at this website to find the manufacturer.
