dreams
the college town reminded me a lot of Arcata (the college town I basically grew up near, go figure), but more the size of Berkeley (the other college town I became an adult near, go figure); lots of funky shops, lots of closed and boarded-up shops, extremely diverse people doing diverse things, unexpected feral art, vaguely alarming situations, book stores, museums, and did I mention the unexpected feral art? because there sure was a LOT OF IT.
dreams, spider
had some very cool dreams, but first I wanted to mention the tiny baby spider (less than the size of a pinhead) who I found trying to spin a web on my glasses this morning. I very carefully relocated it, and wish it well in its future arachnid endeavors. :D
the dreams: I had been on a camping trip (?), but we'd come back early (?) and so were having to stay in a small college town for a week (?). (who "we" were is undetermined, other than young-ish people who knew each other)
NEW ELEMENTARY EPISODE ("An Infinite Capacity For Taking Pains") SPOILERish
I knew as soon as I saw the phone "sex tape" what the solution was going to be, although I didn't know how the deadbolt figured into it.
and as soon as I saw the bit with Sherlock's new "sobriety buddy" at the end I was like "and he's in the middle of killing someone" and the camera pulls out and I'm like WELL CLOSE
this is going to be a ~fun~ season. :D
Free Comic Book Day
Hey, everybody, it's Free Comic Book Day, which is a huge event for all those local comics shops out there. If you've got a local favorite, today's a great day to head down and see all the new offerings coming out. I'm actually kinda sad because even though I'm on an amazing camping trip, I'm missing the chance to go to my local store, Phoenix Comics and Games in Capitol Hill. You should all totally go in my place and check them out today!

"a... Alexa?"
"I'm here! Can I help you?"
"Could... Could you collect childrens' personal information from birth announcements, phones, tablets, searches and social media for 18 years, building a shadow profile of them without ever actually *using* it until they were of legal age, and then market to them using a perfect predictive copy of their every want and desire?"
"Could I _ever._"
Crowdsourced a dataset of D&D character names for training a neural network.
I think it captured the spirit of these.
