Remember that story about polio survivors who need iron lungs being left out in the cold by the company responsible for the devices?
There's a good follow-up.
"Armed with scanners and 3D-printers, computer experts, hobbyists and hardware fiddlers are determined to fix the problem."
"Lillard and her cohort might be the last of the Iron Lungs, but they're unlikely to be the last getting vital healthcare support from the maker community."

Folks I have some ideas concerning a small blog, focusing on fitness, nutrition, and other aspects focused around the concepts of Primal/Paleo and applying them to the modern world. How might y’all want to view this kind of content?
Tumblr? Wordpress? Squarespace? Something else? I want feedback so I can have info to help y’all out! <3
Twitter, Nazis
Twitter unverified a couple of Nazis. Okay. This is still not nearly enough.
They should've banned Nazis from their platform two years ago, before politics turned into the mess it is today.
They still could ban Nazis today, but instead just chose to remove a little checkmark from them.
That they haven't done this - and that their CEO is presumably still following Nazis - earns them exactly zero credit in my book. It's a crappy compromise, at best.

some people here (including me) abandoned birdsite for the purpose of avoiding the worsening Political Discourse there for the sake of their own mental wellbeing.
seeing all of it again around on mastodon doesn't help them at all, and pretty much the reason social media slowly fatigues me
#meta #tea: Remember, from The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, that machine that "invariably delivered a cupful of liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike tea"?
Only decades after reading that, in an office in another country, did I first meet an older British "tea" machine. It could, in theory, produce chocolate, coffee, or tea; but invariably delivered a cupful of brown liquid that was almost, but not quite, entirely unlike any of them.
And I said, "Oh THAT'S what he meant."
