@irisjaycomics Says the bird who made a comic of gay Hackers fanfiction. ;)
@irisjaycomics Yes draw this plz. ;)
@KawaSeadrake YES EXACTLY OMG. I feel really weird when people call me fluid but I can see why the word comes to mind.

@literorrery Well, it helps in that the glyph-as-word use is explicitly for incantations, meaning I can get away with them all being, for instance, present-tense-imperative. And also suggests a smaller set that is important for 'spellwork'.
It's still a tricky question though.
Magic, Language
@literorrery Apologies, correction, 'do'; 'de' is 'of'
Magic, Language
@literorrery They're colors only WORSE though. Because, okay, when you collapse 'green' and 'yellow', describing things is confusing.
But for instance, I'm pretty sure Irish Gaelic doesn't distinguish 'for' and 'to'; both are 'de'. And I can't event begin to imagine the subtle differences that causes in other ways.
Magic, Language
@literorrery Even worse, I want the vowels to work as verbs. Since syllables are always (optional consonant)-(verb)-(optional consonant), that maps to SVO sentence construction pretty well.
But that means I have to choose a closed set of verbs. And I only get 10. o.o
Magic, Language
@literorrery I have a semi-related problem that I've been poking at for a while, which is how I'd like to use my writing system for incantation work by assigning archetypal meanings to the glyphs. But then there's this scary question of 'how do I get good coverage?'
Magic, Language
@literorrery Prepositions are a weird scary beast, especially when you realize that not all languages have the same ones. It's ALMOST a closed set, but... not.
They're like colors, only... not.

A large triangular yellow sign looms: "Warning: now entering an ontology zone" ;)
@literorrery @ElectricKeet Yeah, exactly this for me too. I sorta had that realization with my therapist when I was talking about wanting someone like me but then realizing that no matter how similar someone gets, my brain always moves the goalposts again.
@Firstaide Yeah and I mean this is where I almost feel like a NAME for it would be good. Or some sort of terminology, another slice of the general 'nonbinary' umbrella for all this stuff that's not been very well talked about.
@Firstaide Yeah I think it's even worse on Tumblr than other places I've seen it? Because there are certainly places where I've seen AMAB NB representation, but even there it's mostly... folks with a very transfeminine presentation who just don't resonate with 'woman' specifically... And for me at least, I still have a lot of the same awkward feelings reading those resources as I do when reading basic transfeminine ones.
Quote-boosting (with permission) a friend's followers-only toot:
"i think another NB obstacle for people who do want to modify their existing parts is a lot of people have the attitude 'it's not what's in your pants that matters, it's what's in your head'
which is v progressive in a lot of ways! and v true! but sometimes it matters to -us-, and not just when we're having sex."
💯 💯 💯 💯 💯
@forestservice Though as I read more, green/white definitely has some resonance too...
But of course, being between difficult opposites is very appealing to me to begin with c.c;
@ElectricKeet Also I'm sorry for all the times I (obviously or not) lumped you into the 'girl' group myself. Sometimes it's a lot easier for me to see (and obsess about) the differences over the similarities.
@ElectricKeet Yup, much congruence here.
I think the main diff for me is ending up just barely on the other side of that girl/boy line (in addition to being way down low in intensity on both), which is a big part of what made me just try to bury the whole thing in general until I could get SOME sort of sign of external awareness of stuations like mine. As incomplete and frustrating as it usually is.
@forestservice Though now I want more treatment of how especially the 'enemy' pairings resolve their central paradoxes.
Especially because I think I'm probably green/blue too? ;)
