@CharlotteOfOz@mastodon.social Reading internet trans folks' bad takes on "what trans means" and feeling anxious about it was like, a pretty significant portion of my online time for a chunk of the mid-aughts. :\

animal crossing 📱

@mawr I aspire to be that deer boi ^.^

@starkatt Yes, all this. Another thing I related to back in my wolf days was the villainous reputation vs the timid/prosocial reality.

It's actually interesting to note that the bad rep has waned a lot since the 90's, with Wolf As Noble Conservation Icon gaining a lot more currency.

... And now it occurs to me that in the same time, it's become increasingly common for coyotes to be frowned at as the dangerous intrusion of wildness into human-occupied areas.

Interesting.

@Soreth Gunbound M on iOS at least. Complete with dodgy Korean translations!

It's free-to-play, natch. Haven't played much yet, but that theme song~~~

On a related topic, can anyone teach me how to not be terrible at Puzzle Fighter? ;)

Show thread

@shel I know, right? And playing it in college also had the fun of LAN-party-type-stuff at the same time since we could all get in the computer lab together and do teams.

So this morning I have discovered there are new mobile versions of both Puzzle Fighter and Gunbound.

Since I have clearly time-travelled back to some strange alternate version of my early college years where I have a super-powerful pocket computer, I assume I don't have to work anymore. Which is good, because now I have games. ;)

{8} A poll in two questions

@literorrery Yes and yes.

And, a very strange tangent thought: Could these, on some level, be the same question? Could the furry-sphere use a Pantheacon-equivalent? (If nothing else, it may be a way to keep the con small. ;))

VVVVVV--

So, uh...

Masto's webui has that "filter by regex" option. And it takes regexen, as it should.

A single letter -- v, specifically -- is a valid regex. I wonder how long that'd been there. Got a lot more toots to read now.

UX suggestion: have a visible "(Filtered)" in the header of any column with an active filter so people can at least know a filter is active.

elementary PF-MUCK wrangling

@forestservice Yeah, MU*'s in general are.... not user-friendly. They weren't even in their heyday in the 90's, and they've only gotten worse as what we've expected out of computers has shifted.

Bandaza

A transcendent experience, at points literally so. So many good folks and good conversations. I think I'm really getting a feel for what my role in this tribe is now, and how I can best be of use. Feels very very good.

@Kyna I've seen folks talk about cauliflower hash browns, that might work?

@starkatt Do it do it do it! Dooooo it.

I actually make weird posole, that results from trying to make it interesting while still being vegan. Basically just the hominy, simmered with a spice blend that's mainly epazote, cumin, and cinnamon.

@starkatt Maybe we should try again for Glowtide! (and default to fritters if needed) We will have carne adovada then at least, that's easy to make assuming one has time. And (vegetarian, unless one adds the carne) posole. :)

@starkatt It is, in fairness, hard to make properly. I haven't met someone who's successfully home-cooked it. Our last attempt resulted in some pretty good green chile fritters, but. ;)

@starkatt I mean you can, if you enjoy a poblano caked in breading. /s

@starkatt I have this distinct memory of one of my rare mornings up in time for breakfast (it was an exam day) and just seeing them pour the eggs over everything else on the cook surface and going "YES. My kind of cooking"
