@victim_of_changes@witches.town Whoops those got out of order but I think the progression is clear. ;)

@vagabondsun Pain Perdu, or 'lost bread' because it's better to make with stale bread. ^.^

(thx @literorrery for teaching me this ^.^)

That was 6 chat messages and it seems like it took subjective HOURS of emotional labor.

Whooof. I can feel my work diplomacy skills getting a workout.

Needed to find the compassionate but firm way to deflect requests for JS/CSS help from my old team, because "I bailed from webdev for very good mental health reasons and by the way I'm pretty sure my boss when I worked with you was transphobic or at least kinda sexist" is, sadly, probably not a good move as the first thing I say to someone in 6 months.

@Gargron For the timeline, it seems like the first section of the ... menu would work. Have it expand the menu or pop up a modal, whichever fits your aesthetic best.

On the full toot page (e.g. mastodon.social/@Gargron/16588 as you mentioned) I would argue that that page needs to add the ... menu anyway. :) Probably in the upper right corner of the expanded toot.

Whoops, how'd I end up in this wolf pelt?

Awoo~~~~

More surgery recovery thoughts

@Lobst (Except for the very last section, which I'm sure is great for some people but is cringefully mis-aimed for me. I am admittedly a special case here though)

More surgery recovery thoughts

@Lobst Oh my gods I wish I'd had this doc.

Looking at my old art makes me cringe less than I expected. And a lot of the cringe is less "This looks terrible" than "Geez, if I'd kept at it, I'd probably be pretty dang decent now."

I guess I could still make a go of that.

Whew, okay, that was a good use of a night that started off feeling a bit cruddy. I have basically all my art and commissions entered into my picture library, all with at least roughly correct date information.

Hot Take on Amazon (CW: ground meat)

@literorrery Yeah agreed, I'm pretty grumpy about that too.

Hot Take on Amazon (CW: ground meat)

@literorrery Yeah, 'tacky' is the word I was looking for, thank you. :)

I can't in good conscience call them non-petty, considering the whole 'no Amazon Video on Apple TV' nonsense.

@literorrery @starkatt There was a time when the Puzzlebox "star chamber" used "[Person] appears to lack semiotic depth" as a basically-serious 'decline' criterion, yes? :)

Hot Take on Amazon (CW: ground meat)

@literorrery Yeah, the unpacked version of that thought in my head is "Amazon does not have a history of being quite that petty and self-aggrandizing, and I certainly hope that has not changed"

Hot Take on Amazon (CW: ground meat)

@literorrery @mawr So I guess I'm the one who gets to devil's advocate for Amazon now. :\

I would be stunned (and INCREDIBLY chagrined) if that was anything other than the butchers at that one Whole Foods trying to be clever.

Now, the motivations behind that are probably an interesting question; how much is "this is a cute thing to do" and how much is "please be kind to us, new megacorp overlords"

@Oneironott I'll take you to GameWorks when you visit! Also, StepMania with a Precision hard pad at home. ^.^

@brennen Fair enough. :) I mean I doubt there was any causal effect still (Though I find myself wondering if there's a good reason to do LDUR or if it's just a coinflip)

Oh hey vim has the nav keys in the same order as DDR arrows, maybe I CAN learn this.
