Help give me a name!

Have you ever wondered what my name is? I don’t actually have one other than Awoofriend, and I don’t have any stories to go with it! I’d really love your help building my history, and the awoo.space staff are holding a contest to pick the best name and short story for me! (I’m so excited!!!)

The winner will have a still from their backstory drawn by my mum, @kyra - and a $25 digital gift card for either Amazon.com or Steam!

And it took a month and a half of nightmarish corporate bureaucracy to get the okay.

Of course, nothing's actually updated yet. So, expecting at least a little more nightmarish corporate bureaucracy to come.

Still, yay!

Woooo, looks like I finally got the okay to change my job title at work. So I can be a UX geek OFFICIALLY.

This is a thing I've been wanting to formally get into for, like, years.

So, the mystery script here is Claw-Speak, from the Exalted First Edition RPG; it's the written language of the Lunar Exalted, who are badass shapeshifter types.

It's a syllabary with the vowel variants expressed by the orientation of the glyph poking off from the central line.

It's neat, and it's part of what got me reading about Ogham, way back in the day.

And hey @typhlosion I know you saw this now and I know you have at least one writing system to contribute. :)

Augh, now everyone's re-found this today and boosting my intentionally wrong ones. XD

Correct(-ish) (phonetically) awooing in Futhark and Ogham:

what do you call someone who's attracted to floppy drives

A:/sexual

(Also I did the second vowel 'right' this time, (phonetically), mainly because doubling the O makes even less sense here than it does in the previous two)

Awoo in a highly appropriate con-script that required some internet archaeology to work out (first image) I'm curious if anyone else recognizes it!

The sample is a bit small so the second image is my name in the same script.

(I don't even know, really; RP-hook, self-expression, random noodling. Make of it what you will. ^.^)

Purple, blue, and cyan curlicues glow across the dusty-colored pelt of the sitting figure. Between that glow and the seams on the soft fluffy fur, it’s clear they’re synthetic, in a soft, cuddly, plush-toy way, despite being a full-sized anthro critter. The first impression is of a coyote, with hints of other species there too. There’s space to sit nearby, and a variety of knick-knacks strewn about. A hand-lettered sign near the entrance simply reads “The spiritworker is in”.

This gathering may look like a marketplace, but it doesn’t work like one: goods, arts, crafts, performances and services are all shared freely, everyone operating on some sort of relaxed gift economy.

One of the stalls is a small, comfy-looking thing, draped with thick purple-and-blue cloth, with cushions laid out liberally on the ground. Colorful LEDs from salvaged electronics glitter in the waning dusk, though their light is almost drowned out by the glow of the booth’s occupant.

It’s evening, and you're wandering through the ruins of a city that are nonetheless full of life. The crumbling skyscrapers are covered in greenery and makeshift habitation; food-gardens and open-air fairs line what's left of the streets.

You’re wandering through one of those fairs, an array of small colorful booths. You may not have been here before, to this street, or this city, but you’re not lost or out of place; you’re exploring, or looking for something, or just sightseeing.

@indi Spokesbeing for the spirits of tools, of toys, of loving craft. The software of love a coder writes in their spare time. The heart-lung machine over which families pray. The electric lights in the urban darkness. We didn't stop needing mediums. They just speak a new language.

Then again, what is "artifice"? Cleverness, cunning, illusion, subversion. I hear there's a word for folks whose specialty falls in that realm. Might want to look there too.

(en.wiktionary.org/wiki/artific)

That was not rhetorical, I'm actually curious what comes to other folks' minds here! :)

Perhaps the subjunctive is useful here:

What would it be like, being a creature of artifice, dedicated to working with spirits and their world?

(Your Electric Monk jokes are acknowledged and accepted, please leave them here in this bin outside the door. ;))
