I think that I was just told that I wasn't treating someone like a human because my emotional labour wasn't focused on them.

I am really not sure how to react to that, blocking seems a bit harsh in context but still very tempting.

@envgen there was something similar with me when my grandmother died a few years ago. When I was very small we were sort of close, but she lived across the country and I barely saw her. When I met her as an adult I realised that we had nothing in common and I wouldn't ever be close to her. At her funeral I couldn't really be sad, it was a bit weird.

@GinnyMcQueen@mastodon.social often oblivious to what is going on. I have my doubts about being a good guy(tm) but I generally don't say anything because I have no idea what is going on. Is it actually helpful to have some random guy saying 'You're awesome!' or something when there are problems?

@Sailorplutoid we have been sort of doing follower friday every time we get a new group of people. I have been trying to just use the public timeline because that gives (or at least gave...) a much nicer sense of community and avoided the echo chamber effect.

But yeah, follower friday has been (and is) totally a thing.

The devs are working on it, unfortunately I don't know enough ruby to be helpful here.

Not that I want to discourage more instances for specific groups, just there are some already set up if that is what you are looking for.
