@IceWolf @Felthry @RainierBeringer@meow.social @LexYeen@snouts.online There have been cases (at least one that I can track down, because I heard it reported) of people who get their brain's emotional centers damaged and become so logical that they can't make decisions because they no longer feel strongly about anything.
Why I'm falling in love with poetry
Because of the tears that flow when some poet pulls words out of my head and my heart.
Because of the laughter that gets stolen out of me when something I know to be true gets said out-loud
Because I can get called out the loudest, and seen the clearest, in the same 3 minutes, and I love that efficiency.
Because I can see people like me, and more importantly, people NOT like me, be taken seriously, and believed without commentary (except for response poems)
Because titles like "Ode to my Strap-on" "They Day You Died Because you Wanted To", and "Lessons Learned from a Third Grader" are all beautiful, for different reasons, that are all valid.
Because when I make my own, I don't need a beat from a producer (though sometimes it helps!)
Because hearing feedback and encouragement and audience participation reminds me of church growing up
Because I gave up on church and I don't get to hear "c'mon, now" spoken by a black lady anymore.
Because Poetry is as diverse as I want the world to be.

Kids born on 9/11 get to legally toast their birthdays in 2 years. They got to join the war on terror two years ago.
Never Forget forced the world to live continuously with trauma, which is probably why we can't seem to get over fear anymore.
@Leucrotta not so far as i know. Now, that's not to say it won't be turned into one, cause that happens no matter what, cause sometimes colonization is the only thing that happens anymore.

This is gonna be a big one, cause I've got thoughts and a pretty clear picture of how she's "Supposed" to look, but my art skills are negative, so I'm pretty sure I'll need lots and lots and lots of revision or studies, and I can't afford to pay individually for each one. The process I see is either getting a bunch of options and picking/mishmashing them together, or just revising, revising, revising and finally seeing what I had in mind in 20 years (cause that's how long it would take me to pay for all of it!)
So maybe don't be so quick to hit the accept button?
I wanna win the lottery just so I can pay the artists what its worth to deal with me.
