the best part of this issue of Dragon I'm reading online, is the idea that a prehistoric setting might have temporally appropriate analogies to the familiar deities and hence the PCs might run into dinoThor with a tailsweep attack. Literally a thunder lizard. My inner 10 year old thinks this is pretty much the coolest idea evar.

it is a pre-cambrian worm (called a xenusiid, relatives to tardigrades)
