@DialMforMara I suppose the question is what you define as "reasonable" in this circumstance.

I wouldn't consider it reasonable, personally, but I wouldn't consider most of modern business practices trying to establish "you're one of the good ones" to be reasonable or even ethical. That said, it's probably standard practice. I tell companies like that, "I don't have one" and wait to see what they do.

@acetone_kitten Six weeks after Raytheon hired me and promised to move a bunch of work from New York to Texas, L-3 bought the divison of the company for which I worked and moved the last of the Texas jobs to New York. That same year I got a performance-based promotion for doing no work.based literally on the work I didn't do wrong.

@KoBunny I don't think any good manager likes them. *pettin's* I have a lot of thoughts about this, but I've never _been_ in this position, so all of my ideas are theoretical at best. Regardless, I support you whatever path you take.

@Laurelai@witches.town I know @shel managed to raise a targeted crowdfunding goal for a non-profit by advocating for it on here, but I can't say I've seen anyone successfully use Mastodon to raise money for living expenses.

@KoBunny This is pretty much what I've been trying to say about Cool Kid, yes. I think he's actively taking advantage of your conflict aversion. I don't think he's doing it maliciously, but I do think it's happening.
