I tried to make a test instance of Mastodon today and I learned a lot from the process.

One of the things I learned today is that Docker makes hard things easy and easy things really hard. Adding Docker to the stack of things I need to learn will complicate things too much IMHO, so I'm gonna just install Mastodon without Docker and see how that goes, next time.

Tonight tho, it's SPLAT TIME :D

@Daxarhagron Trying to build a Mastodon instance? I tried the docker route earlier today with... well it managed to display an error page so there's that at least?

Updating permissions took a billion years because it was using the overlay2 storage driver and changing it to anything else broke Docker

Conclusion: I have decided that "fuck docker, I'll do it live"
