emotional, species dysphoria
Laying in bed crying. If this makes you cry too, maybe we have more in common than a lot of beings do. We used to dream about this all the time when we were a child. This was what we imagined at night while we were trying to fall asleep, the experience we constructed to let our dreams grow in. Growing up in this human body required dreaming of becoming inhuman, that one day someone would come take us away to make us well again.

Consider again that dot.
That's here.
That's home.
That's us.
On it: everyone you love, everyone you know, everyone you ever heard of, every human being who ever was, lived out their lives.
The aggregate of our joy and suffering, thousands of confident religions, ideologies, and economic doctrines, every hunter and forager, every hero and coward[...], every saint and sinner in the history of our species lived there -
on a mote of dust
suspended in a sunbeam.
The Decrypting Rita Omnibus is a beautiful book! Highly recommended for petting and turning real pages if that's your kind of thing!
In many cases, #fanfic is specifically a reaction to popular but trivialising media in which the fic creators attempt to reclaim genre themes which have been discarded in favour of saleability.
Not all #fanfic is a shallow copy of the original work or a continuation of it. Good fanfic usually explores concepts the original work was afraid to, or begins from a premise in which the original work could never have occurred while retaining some elements (settings, characters, etc) that still make it relatable to the original work.
under capitalism, transitioning is basically buying the expansion pack to life (and then paying a subscription fee). #trans
@tastymochafox It even comes in different sizes and shapes for various purposes! Those slotted cannabis spoons are like wow @_@ though.
@Leucrotta We always imagined it as someone trying to shove German words into English sentences! Things like “the Ark eludes us still in some secluded antechamber” always felt like exactly the kind of thing someone who learned their English primarily for the purpose of archaeological studies would end up saying. (Were they even supposed to be speaking English in most of Ark, or just casually screen-translated German?)
