heh, while trying out the new controller I noticed that Ridge Racer 64 makes up for its lack of render distance by replacing far away geometry with textures, cleverly hidden at the end of tunnels
the rumble in the N64 controller is really nice and rumbly, shame that you can't use the system remapping feature on it
it has some really cool ideas like the cooperative puzzle-solving where you have to switch between the two characters, and it's one of the first games I know of that basically use QTEs, and it would be a lot worse if you couldn't save basically anywhere (no way to skip the cutscenes though, which sucks if you saved before one)
also the final boss is on a tight ten minute timer, uses all your health and ammo (you basically have to save it all for that fight) and is a huge bullet sponge
tfw you grab The Edge computer's shitty handle and proceed to drop it on your toes
