by the way, if you feel like it, and are technically inclined enough, you totally should set up an instance just for kicks. make it single user or just some friends, shut it down a week later and make a new one, it doesn’t have to be a commitment. You don’t need to run a website responsibly if your only user is you!

@onfy Germany has very few because we have strong anti-solicitation laws. There's some old people scams (pretending to be a grandkid and needing bail money, stuff like that) and insurance scams (though that was mostly one pyramid scheme I think)

@noracodes OpenCollective helpfully provides a sum (of $ 81266.66), but there's no such thing for Patreon I think? best thing I can find is https://graphtreon.com/creator/mastodon. The EU grants are probably documented somwhere
