re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen yeah I get that, sorry
@elilla say hi to my sister if you see her ;)
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen idk it'll heat up food pretty quickly
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen well, microwaves have their wattage specified usually so that's why I used it at an example bc light bulbs don't heat up that much anymore
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen yeah 650 W is quite a bit of heat, that's a microwave on medium low
@codl they weren't good enough at Mario
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen yes! and that's happening all the time and can't be reversed, to convert energy into a more "useful" form you have to expend more energy, the entropy of the universe can only go up
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen the electrical energy does work (not even real work in the physics sense) while turning into heat
@Gmr_Leon tell that to someone who has aphantasia lol
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen energy can't be destroyed, just converted to a less useful form of energy (scientists say that the entropy of the system rises)
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen though if you have a 650 W power supply that doesn't mean your computer is drawing 650 W all the time or even under full load, more like 250 W maybe? and under full load you're still supposed to have like 50-100 W to spare
re: computers, heat, personal realization
@LottieVixen every single of those watts becomes heat
@srol hm, that makes it a bit more mysterious
@srol checked your washer/dryer maybe?
@grumpygamer it's a bunch of wrappers around Windows/DirectX APIs, to make porting less work. I don't think using it keeps people from selling their game on e.g. Steam, they don't have to use the App Store
