Sleep Thinking
When I spend the whole day drained and lethargic and unable to function
Then get a pretty consistent high-energy period each night
..Which I then medicate myself to suppress and sleep poorly through
It makes me wonder if sleeping semi-normative hours is really worth the effort of purposely sabotaging so much of my functionality/energy/creativity
@Moot@snouts.online @Galuade@snouts.online I think the thing about Dark Messiah was the other mechanics and the environments were verymuch built with the boot in mind; Ice spells and throwable vials of oil, destructable terrain that triggers on an enemy being shoved into it (railings, support beams), racks of spikes and bonfires scattered throughout the levels at key fight zones, etc.
I guess what I'm getting at is it wasn't just a good mechanic, it was then woven into the game in ways that made it shine.
re: w40k, Plague Marines
@daylight fantastic work!
holy heck, Hellboy 2 had a lot more physical VFX and costuming work in the creatures than I realised (I assumed CG was pulling more of the weight)
This is a really great article: https://monsterlegacy.net/2018/06/28/hellboy-2-mister-wink/#more-11324

Big fan of The Knife generally, but Silent Shout is so good
re: f.lux alternatives request
@multiple_creatures ah, that's kinda part of my problem
I just want to reduce brightness, and most software that advertises that just changes the colour temperature instead Windows Night Light just oranges my screen. x.x
(f.lux is one of the exceptions in that you can change the brightness and do it without skewing the hue into the orange range, but it's got this weird dawn bug I can't find a solution to ;w; )
RedShift says it has a software brightness setting as well as the temp stuff, so I will give that a poke, thanks! ^^
f.lux alternatives request
owwwww
I use f.lux just as 'software with screen dimming functionality' because that's surprisingly rare, so no colour-tweaking, no automatic time-of-day stuff required at all.
And it still goes "Hey!!! It's retina burning brightness time!!!" every single dawn.. Even with all that stuff switched off, even with timed-colour all set to the same level.. It messes up consistently. x_x
is there any Windows-compatible "just dim my screen, on my terms" software out there?
@Moot@snouts.online @outie It's literally "hyperviolent Hero Cop Team saves peace by shooting lots and lots of people"
Isn't this the punchy powerchord chorus that most of gaming hangs on..? ._. What more do they want?
re: self gripe
@variance yeah I absolutely run into this and find it very restricting on "stuff I can do" vs "stuff I'd actually like to be doing" ><
