Brain: "Ooh, there's a Twine gamejam!"
Me: "But.. We're already workin on a Unity project.."
Brain: "Ehh.. You only just started it. And I mean you could absolutely do it in Twine ASCII."
Me: "It's.. Isometric tactics."
Brain: "That's like, one step of difficulty up from the top-down ASCII graphical interfaces you've done before in Twine. Like.. One step at most. You got this."
I like that my brain believes in me so much..? o.o
@colon_three Though if we're going for British Gritty then it'd have to be, idk..
Warren Ellis or Garth Ennis (or one of the other E__ises), or Alan Moore or something.
But I couldn't come up with a half-decent joke for them, so
orz
@colon_three Frank Miller's "Blobby: Year One"

@kitsch "Thankyou for your contact! We appreciate your concerns. :) First, have you tried spontaneously developing basic tool-use?"
..Actually now I love the idea that the Monolith had to go round and do that for every tool using animal as well
"Hello yes, is this all the corvids? Right, good. I have something to show you!"
"Hi there lil octopus! Might I interest you in this coconut shell? It has much potential!"
@kitsch My brain immediately suggested the giant black monolith from 2001: A Space Odyssey
I wonder what their coverage is like, they seem to have a good workplace environment & have been well-established for a few million years
re: videogame violence
@theoutrider
This is an epic for the ages
I am only sad we didn't get to see it kick a dragon's ass
re: videogame violence
@theoutrider from limited experience with (2D) animation, the skill ramp goes approximately:
Step 1. "can do human locomotion ok"
Step 2. "can do dog locomotion ok"
Step 3. "can do cat locomotion ok"
...
Step 586: "ugghhhh god it's a horse"
So I would have sympathy on this, if not for budget
(Also remembering all the Skyrim screenshots of horses standing at 90 angles up mountains.. I kinda hope that's still in there)
re: Art Progress
@StarshipAmelia I want their coat badddd
"Jet Set Radio Space Communist Future" is what popped into my head for this and it's a good.. Pop

re: videogame take
@theoutrider It was really immersive in the alt-history Venice fantasy book me & K were reading together to have to stop every couple of pages and go
"What? Index.. Index.. Index.. Ah. It's a sort of end-table, apparently."
because of the authors randomly interspersing old Italian words for common/irrelevant items in an English book.
I think the most egrarious/odd example of doing this I've heard about is that in "Borgia: Faith & Fear", Leonardi Da Vinci is the only character to speak Italian, and does so for all his lines while everyone around him speaks English.
@theoutrider Thanks for telling me about this stuff, it's v. useful (I know next to nothing, haha).
A friend said the copy of Bittorrent they advertise just like.. Never gets updated, ever, so I was planning on just running most of it thru a PC setup anyway. Glad to hear the firmware's a little better..
(And yeah, the prices for these things kinda skyrockets after the 220, and I don't need anything lightning fast! xP)
@theoutrider I'm not server-savvy enough to try the Raspi approach;- A friend recommended it, and even offered to send me her old one..
But rn I don't have the time + energy to learn the background + practicalities well enough to be remotely confident I wouldn't be leaving holes in my network security big enough for Godzilla to set himself up as admin, yknow? ><
@theoutrider Ah, I was looking at the 220 myself (ebuyer lists it as max 8TB per drive, but I doubt I'm going to go above that before the hardware goes obselete).
Are there any you know of that are higher-budget you'd have gone for otherwise? I wasn't sure how much pricetag would affect things realistically, I'ved heard that Zyxel and such have similar problems for "Has some software, but that will never, ever be updated".
@theoutrider What kind of NAS do you use? I'm thinking of getting one.
