i'm not 100% sure if they read my profile, or if they just like my picture

i decided to try out okcupid since i seem to be the least hardcore one at most fetlife events i go to

i mentioned that i like diapers in my profile--so this has a chance to either be really good, or a complete and utter disaster

i guess we'll have to see

@AnubysIshtar well, having an idea of what you want to do is the first step!

after that, it's just a matter of picking what tools you want to use, and then repeatedly asking yourself "what's next?"

the trick is that even if you don't know something, you probably have at least a vague idea about what to research to get closer

using this mindset, you can solve almost anything

in programming, you soon get to a point where you can do almost anything--and organizing it becomes the hardest part

its so small scale that it doesn't take a lot of time to learn how to make music, code, or art

it's also small enough that a single person can make a game and all of its assets from scratch in very little time

that could also possibly give you a head start when it comes to using other things too. (like LÖVE)

i don't know how to do that, but this is kind of my hope too

one of my goals is to make things that can make others happy

i kinda wanted to get into game development, but i'm not really sure i could survive in that environment yet

maybe i'll have to git gud and join a few game jams

also, totally! it's an Extremely Good way to learn new languages. ruby comes to mind as a language where the thing i suggested would be really easy

something like clojure that can use everything written for java also ends up being a fun language to play with--it has the bonus that you can also hotswap code into your repl until you have a working program

it basically lets you build a bridge as you are crossing it

@AnubysIshtar a good way to get into programming again is to do really dumb things with code

it's fun, and you end up learning a lot more than you would with more formal training..!

like, take a discord library and an automation library, and make a discord bot for a room that can control your mouse--and then stream it

but only let them right click, and make it so you have to answer random math questions before being able to do that every third time
