and yeah I really liked 1 too. Origins has far exceeded it with Bayek's story

there is a fantastic scene where Bayek talks a woman down from a ledge and helps her gain the will to move on

it was almost perfect. there was a leopard ambush that ruined the emotional labor aspect bc she goes "oh i guess i am afraid of death" and kinda brushes away whether the lady was depressed or not, but before then that whole thing had me nearly crying cuz it was really well done

all the themes of the game, how family is explored in the game, how depression, loss, anger, emotional labor

it sets up with very clear Evil People but spends so much time exploring like what dealing the realistic consequences of those evils are more so than a lot of other games

it's not some high fantasy grandiose quest, it's one dude fighting to avenge his son, come to terms with his death, and stop other families from being broken apart like his

the story, most characters, and almost all of the side quests are compelling and good
