@Oneironott Pfft. I've never seen you fetch a thing. You're nothin' but a dang water weasel!

re: media; the fun kind of horror; advertisement

@Austin_Dern I feel bad for just dumping the whole unsorted playlist on you, but you might enjoy some of the bits in this, too, then...

@kelseyhusky I saw! I'm cautiously optimistic about it since the GOP is so good at feeding their persecution complex with any attempt to bring them to justice, but it still feels good and couldn't have happened to a more rotten bunch of people...

@Austin_Dern That reminds me that the Audubon Zoo has reopened for limited visitors. Peg and I should really go down and pay respects to the "captive*" raccoons.

(*They've got such a good scam going and they know it. I have never seen happier, fitter raccoons and their enclosure is immaculate. Which has to take some SKILL for a raccoon warden...)

@Austin_Dern I definitely think any display of potentially advanced communication skills among procyonids is a hopeful sign, 'cause lordy are we ready for them to take over :>

re: meta

@Oneironott It is kind of a fucking miracle that our weird little subculture even exists -- let alone that we keep popping up on the forefront of the resistance movement. Holy crap that's incredible.

Got a massive case of The Doomies today. If anyone's got anything good or hopeful to share, it would be greatly appreciated.

re: food

@Sig Weirdly, that cheered me up in a way that nothing else, not even the cats, has been able to this morning.

re: On Poetry

@kelseyhusky That... was pretty fucking eloquent, actually. *hug*

re: media, frustration, transpol, Discourse

@Soreth Yeah, but Mastodon *isn't* and it feels like the takes I get here are every bit as bad. :(

Of course, that's generally fixed by avoiding the federated timeline like the plague and turning off boosts wherever possible. :p

media, frustration, transpol, Discourse

there is a twitter thread about going back and realizing that favorite old shows of yours have a transphobic episode.

and while they're definitely onto something and this is something i've experienced too, mostly i'm learning that my definition of "transphobic joke" is way, way out of synch with the millennial one and even just "portraying a trans person doing a bad thing" or "making a pun off of 'trans'" is enough.

i hate 2020 and i'm probably going to hate 2021 through 2030 even more

@001zlnv The little traps that are basically ivermectin that they take back to their nests do seem to have been reducing our buggies' numbers before we sprayed. Make sure you get the kind that comes with the little anti-egg traps too, if possible. We used the Raid "Double Control" and they did seem to be at least done some good.

@001zlnv Sympathies! We just went through a distressingly large infestation. We finally broke down and sprayed once we were convinced it was cat-safe and they seem to have disappeared!

re: greater seattle area grocery question (please boost)

@Verdigris It looks like Yakima Fruit Market is still open! (yakimafruitmarket.com/?fbclid=) I have no idea how they do for heirloom apples, but i always had good luck finding interesting produce up there. They might at least have someone on staff who can tell you where to go, might be worth a call!

I would also *highly* recommend hitting up the farmer's market in U District/Fremont/Ballard if it's still running and chatting up some of the sellers there. They were always *really* happy to talk shop with me and seem very likely to know where to go.

re: foodcrime, stress eating, anxiety, cw: 2020, fml

@001zlnv do? you can make things out of them? i was just gonna mix 'em up and eat 'em out of a jar or something :)
