@Leucrotta Just outta curiosity, did you ever get to see any Phantom 2040?
cat anxiety (~), cat ph but everybody seems ok
Peebles started panting after a strenuous play session, which is apparently not that abnormal but of course the first source I found online decided to scream IMMINENT CAT DOOM in contradiction to every single other source.
She also has a warm nose, which is apparently not a real sign of illness? And Sugarfoot was making hacky noises last night and there was a little bit of kitty barf on the porch this morning. (I won't go into the details but it evidently wasn't the "bad kind.") Also, our elderly neighbor has a tendency to leave out filthy crusted-up bowls and cans of wet food for them which is REALLY starting to annoy me.
I love these guys but lately what it's really been is an inroad for all my old hypochondria to sneak right back in the door. I had learned to deal with my own little health twitches, but worrying about THESE little dudes gets right past all my defenses.
It's gonna be like this for years before I learn to relax, isn't it.
re: food (++)
@fineursine I've heard Peruvian-Chinese is kinda its own genre, though, isn't it? The whole Chifa thing? I've been dying to try that, too.
re: food (++)
@fineursine Oh, I didn't say GOOD wonton soup is listless. I just said BASIC wonton soup is listless. :)
Remember, I grew up in OHIO, so I've had some very bland Chinese food in my life. :) But I also lived in Boston for a while, so I've also had some very, very, very good Chinese food.
I've never had wonton soup to write home about, but I have definitely had good comforting wonton soup. I'm also kind of a chili-head and tend not to chase after something non-spicy when there's a spicy option!
Manchow chicken is a lot like that, I'll share a recipe if I find one that hits the same notes as the one I ordered!
food (++)
I'm so happy. I not only found GOOD Indian food in this weirdly conservative town, they have a bunch of Indo-Chinese specialties I'd always wanted to try.
The Chicken Manchow soup was kind of a relevation, like someone took your basic listless Chinese-American wonton soup and fixed it with an Indian spice upgrade.

re: music, cinema, implicit drugs
@xinjinmeng @zx3 Oh, wait, I mistook that for a Roeg line! I am actually a VERY recent fan of B.A.D. and didn't recognize the line! I intend to rectify that soon-- but before last year I didn't even know they were Mick Jones's band...
re: music, cinema, implicit drugs
@xinjinmeng @zx3 I mean of COURSE Man Who Fell To Earth makes me think of my favorite robot. <3
a question for any negativland fans out there
is this where the dog juice spilled?
music, cinema, implicit drugs
No topic, honestly, I'm just stoned and listening to a Big Audio Dynamite song and realizing I don't chat with people much about music anymore.
What are you listening to these days?

This is a neat song, by the way. It's Mick Jones's tribute to filmmaker Nicholas Roeg and each verse is about a different film: Walkabout, Peformance, Don't Look Now, Man Who Fell To Earth, and Insignificance.
@Phorm @anthracite Whereas I know how to get to her Service Mode. >;9~~~
re: Birdsite idiocy
@Phorm Ah, so it looks like they're trying to crib the Patreon model but do it all wrong basically. At least it looks like maybe the Blue Checks get a share of the loot, but... still, fuck no.
re: Birdsite idiocy
@Phorm Luckily, the kind of Personages I follow probably wouldn't go along with that shit in a million years. Like, I can NOT see Reggie Watts or Mary Jo Pehl doing anything but shrug at this nonsense.
re: Birdsite idiocy
@Phorm what
current mood; whimsical homicidal ideation but it's a lyin'-ass fascist so it's ok

@Soreth the nostalgia. it wounds me <3
