@Austin_Dern I mean, I disagree 100% with him, but I *almost* get it. You're talking to someone who gets physically angry whenever someone mentions I-99 or I-238. #roadgeeks >___<
cats! dogs! lizards! (+++)
I am starting to wonder if I wasn't bitten by a werefluttershy or a Disney princess overnight.
Because I've had FIVE encounters with friendly animals this morning, ranging from the usual Peebles and Transom Cat (i.e. Shadow) encounter, to running into Luna The Cafe Dog and her new foster buddy Shiloh in a failed attempt to get donuts...
To catching Snowy and Olive's new daddy out on the porch, whereupon he opened up the door and showed me the two precious void children I raised, happy and ENORMOUS.
It's the first I've spotted them in months since they really are NOT interested in the outdoors-- I'm so happy, I worked so hard to ensure they would never know the street-cat life-- and I knew they'd grown but HOLY SHIT. Beautiful sweet minipanthers, healthy and so happy.
We did good, but their new dad Kim is doing AMAZING. He apparently toughed out Ida just to spare them an evac. We had a lengthy conversation about the majesty and terror of nature. He's a really neat guy.
Oh and I got a Lizard Combo of 3. Ask @anthracite. :D
re: extreme shitpost
@001zlnv I mean, obviously this would have to involve breakdancing cows.

another one of those days where my goal for the future is "leave enough good stuff behind for the raccoons, crows, housecats, and coyotes to appreciate when we're gone, so just in case they ever make the awful unrewarding leap to sapience they've at least got some entertainment"
@mawr 100% support on this one. My coworkers have pretty much launched a crusade to get Google delisted as a third-tier mapping source at best and frankly IT IS SUCH A RELIEF.
re: uspol, culture war, food, modern agriculture, snark
@eredien Yes, thank you, salient point. Same shit that wrecked iceberg lettuce, or at least made it outcompete all the GOOD greens. >______<

America is the Red Delicious apple of civil societies. All its best traits are being bred out of it generation by generation, all for the sake of making it more uniform, more profitable, superficially better looking, less sensitive to damage, and easier to manage.
@Phorm Sorghum is basically the AJ of the group. She lives in a jug. Or maybe a mason jar. :D
@Phorm Now I just wanna meet those other two genies, Amaranth and Sorghum!
Well... maybe just Amaranth. Sorghum is NOT a sexy name.
re: music/mh request
@balinares Thank you!
re: music/mh request
@zx3 Both definitely going on the list. For now, I think I've found a pretty effective mind-scrubber-- a charmingly violent John Zorn jazzpunk album. But I think I'm in the mood to listen to music all evening, haven't done that in ages... Thank you!
re: music/mh request
@Phorm Okay, I am IMPRESSED, geniefox.
I have heard "Eple" before. Hearing it again triggered a MONSOON of pleasant nostalgia.
And I have absolutely no idea from where. I'm acting on faith that it's not just déjà vu.
The weird thing is that it seems to have a number of well-known appearances... and I know NONE of them are it. (e.g., the Apple setup music, Austin City Limits, PBS affiliate KLRU...)
But I want to say it was licensed in SOME damn thing that I watched regularly. I want to say public TV. Maybe even interstitial music.
Anyhow, well done. Granted a wish neither of us even knew had been made. <3
re: music/mh request
@Phorm Oh, I've done it too, re: CONET. Surprising nobody. *innocently whistles the Lincolnshire Poacher*
