Villain originally meant "peasant", clown originally meant "peasant", clown villains are double-peasants.
Obviously words change meaning over time, but I think it's very interesting that the way we talk about heroes being noble and evil people being villains is basically an artifact of a multi-century long class war.
@noiob Hi there, my friends over at driveinsaturday.org put in a federation request with awoo.space and they just wanted me to ping you and vouch for them!
They're good low-maintenance folks-- this is basically the Mastodon server of a homebrew Mystery Science Theater night that's been running for over 10 years. They just have a couple of us over here on awoo they'd like to stay in touch with.
Thanks, just passing the word along!
re: Health (--)
@JulieSqveakaroo Ugh, I should freaking *hope* your employers will take "my blood pressure was through the roof" as a good reason to call in! Best of luck hun, please keep us all posted, will be fretting. <3
re: Horny image idea to maybe doodle later.
@anthracite So... Kirsch finally packaged themself for commercial TFs. Good for them!
@KinkyTurtle Huh? Oh! I can understand your concern. Don't worry, it's not made from turtles, it's just for serving *with* turtles! ^_______^
@treaclewasps Be warned that Ray Mungo, in particular is A MADDENING PERSON. His own foreward author, Eric Utne, kinda trashes him in it and complains that he owes him money, at least in my edition. XD
@KinkyTurtle To be fair, *most* nouns make perfect sense with "sauce" after them: white sauce, plum sauce, horsey sauce, awesome sauce, staple sauce, turtle sauce, space sauce, car sauce... See? It always works!
@LexYeen no
no hun i really appreciate it but i think we're past that point
which is why i have invented
THE NOSTRIL PORTAL
i mean honestly given the uh "openness" of some of these people's mental landscapes if you have any like old furniture or dead bodies or anything to dispose of while i'm up in there it's not like it's gonna make a lot of difference
all i wanna do today regarding social media is purchase several thousand copies of ray mungo's "famous long ago" and tom wolfe's "electric kool-aid acid test" -- my two favorite documents of how the counterculture of the 60s failed good and hard -- and go around shoving them up Discourse People's noses
@spottyfox Yup! That's basically Skinamarink 0.1!
@spottyfox also it dawned on me you miiiight be the sort of person who would appreciate this one:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cXSUy7oExu8
(peg just straight up laughed at the trailer because that's a very peg thing to do, but it hit my "i'm eight and the world looks TERRIFYING" buttons superbly)
@spottyfox you seen pontypool hun?
@spottyfox OH SHIT HOT SKULL DROPPED
re: Kinky Idea (physical and mental changes)
@xinjinmeng @JoyfulSkunk I've also described what the Hypnosquid "did to" Hladi as less like control and more like "light-speed digital romance." She wasn't brainwashed; canonically, she was seduced fair and square. She got time before her assimilation to take a good hard look at what she was being offered and realize she was getting a better deal than any Earthling ever offered her...
re: Kinky Idea (physical and mental changes)
@xinjinmeng @JoyfulSkunk I have often descripted my core kink as "two Pod People fall in love, with their abductors and each other.."
re: Kinky Idea (physical and mental changes)
@JoyfulSkunk One of the scenarios I always really enjoyed with my serial-consensual-abductee Hladolet was people white knighting her and trying to remove her control helmet... and her snapping at them, perfectly lucid, "HEY, I WAS ENJOYING THAT, PUT IT BACK." Had a few really interesting scenes about her "rescued" from the hypnohive and "in rehab," too..
@XyzzySqrl decent rather -- i claim drunkard amnesty
@trouffee To think that I used to make fun of Seattleites for not "being able" to drive in an inch of snow.
Oh, I learned the truth. I learned good.
