@Leucrotta "In Case There's Irish Mastodon" is gonna be the name of my Pogues cover band's first album.

@spottyfox Now I want to buy something from Tiger Electronics purely so I can name it "Willa Maiu."

@Austin_Dern i played so many fucking exhibition games of solitaire bdsm chess in assorted tapestriesmuck venues >_<

@spottyfox There is some hilarious, and probably also pretty suable, short comedy video fodder in there somewhere.

@spottyfox i cant imagine frank zappa doesnt have at least 7 of the top 10 spots here 🤔

@typhlosion My impression is that it's a "not better, just different" thing. Brewing tea in milk vs water will affect the flavor, but not necessarily in a bad way. It'll just bring out a different balance of fat- versus water-soluble flavor compounds! You also will not be able to get quite as much flavor out of robust teas that benefit from hotter water, since boiling milk will scald. Use a little more or a little stronger tea and it should work out pretty well!

@Leucrotta (as for Francis, yeah, I could probably argue with him all day long but you know, i still mostly like the guy? and he seems like the kind of guy who might *let* you argue with him all day long and stay reasonably civil? we have some absolutely irreconcileable differences and he's said a few things to piss me off but as popes go, yeah, he seems like a soft option to me...)

(length cut)

@JulieSqveakaroo @Phorm @anthracite Thanks, hun! I was just a little worried about her still being plugged up and unable to wee. She is definitely still having trouble, but then, they just gave her the antibiotic shot like maybe 16-20 hours ago? They did say that should start improving in a day or two? I don't even know what to watch for, but I still haven't seen her pee normally and she's still frantically pawing and scratching at piles of non-litter things looking for a place to go. *fret* She does seem a little more comfy than she did yesterday though...

@Leucrotta Hoo boy. It's pretty bad, but luckily it's not Francis, it's just that 1942 letter they found from Pius XII that pretty much confirms they absolutely fucking knew the Germans were committing genocide and absolutely fucking lying about not knowing. >_<

@Phorm @anthracite She's already much quieter and more playful than she was this morning! 🤗 Still a tad worried because they didn't really give us much post-care advice but I'm a LOT less worried now that she's home and seems fairly comfy again! I'll pet the Peeblet for ya, sweetie. 😽

re: Apartment inspections suck.

@JulieSqveakaroo @001zlnv WTF, we have NEVER had a landlord come poking around at the condition of our apartment unless a repair was happening. Maybe I've just been lucky enough to have a very long selection of lazy landlords... (which, actually, kinda checks out in retrospect)

@anthracite @xinjinmeng Thank you again, Peggy, for teaching me the art of "eat a small good thing made of food, instead of a large okay machine excretion created mostly to crowd rival brands off the shelf.'"

re: dragon! (long)

@relee So, have you ever seen Pulp Fiction? Basically Enmerkar is the ancient dragon scholar version of the drug dealer friend that Vincent and Jules go to after... the very bad spoilery thing they accidentally do... to get help cleaning up.

Enmerkar is that weird nervous hippie friend of yours standing there with his hands thrust in the pockets of his bathrobe going, "OK, man, but you all better be outta here before my wife gets home," desperately wishing he'd never gotten wrapped up in whatever the hell it is you went and did. :)

dragon! (long)

@relee Few do! They're my only dragon sona, mostly reserved for interacting with Peg at home.

So... the name "Enmerkar" is taken from an ancient Sumerian king. Enmerkar claims they're from the original Library of Babel... which is true, actually, but they were hatched by the monks who staff it sometime in the late 1500s, from an egg found in their rare artifacts collection.

Incidentally, the version of the Library they're from is the same one from sites.evergreen.edu/politicals

Basically they're an introverted stoner and scholar/sage, a friendly charlatan who knows a lot about some very sketchy magical and historical subjects but would rather be left out of anything dangerous. This of course makes them a karmic disaster waiting to happen.

One of their quirks: they're asymmetrical, with mismatched horns. They's also distinguished by the absolutely terrible efficacy of their breath weapon. It's acid, but they don't practice with it or exercise their connection to the Elemental Plane Of Low pH very often... so it tends to come out as a dilute spray of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar. 🤷

@trouffee @relee You have no idea... (wait, no, this is you, you know EXACTLY...) how close that is to accurate XD
