moving; mood (--)
Looks like we're moving to NOLA for good, sometime around next April - June. I have complicated feelings about this, but they're mostly "yup, feels like things in Seattle have mostly come to an end, time to go."
Nothing's going to change for the better here, if it does I've got zero remaining faith I'm going to be asked to be a part of it, and there's not much to do besides accept it and make a graceful exit.
Maybe I'll feel better after breakfast.

@mmsword @JulieSqveakaroo Ooh, thanks for the tip! Failing that, I'll see what Uwajimaya has to offer...

@JulieSqveakaroo @mmsword Right? I think that might be the single specific food item I miss most from Boston, the adzuki cream donuts at Japonaise Bakery in Porter Square...

me: "You're right, Peggy! It IS time to call @mmsword in on this conversation [about extremely esoteric donuts!"
Peg [who had suggested no such thing]: "That's my cue to leave. Exit, stage door!"
For the record, we were pondering a hypothetical Rodeo Donut (try 'em, they're in Ballard, so good) named the "Blazing Saddle."
We had gotten as far as "sweetened pinto bean paste, beef bouillon powder, and candied jalapeno pepper" when she stormed out in hopefully comedic exasperation. 🐯
For those of you who have been concerned about the new "study" on "rapid-onset gender dysphoria," here's the link to the current /r/science thread on it:
https://www.reddit.com/r/science/comments/9a6x2w/rapidonset_gender_dysphoria_in_adolescents_and/
No guarantees it's still Good Stuff past the top comments, but... yeah, at the very least, it looks like the science community ROUNDLY has our backs here. This is just not a good study, and evidently it's under consideration for retraction by the publisher. It's a garbage study and people seem to be recognizing this.
Gender, New Shitty Terms, Transphobia (--)
@Phorm (Actually, on second thought, this is 2018 -- there's plenty to be afraid of because zero factuality and bad methodology don't seem to actually STOP people these days. We'll probably have to endure a bunch of people quoting these "facts" at us anyhow. But we don't have to take them the faintest bit seriously. And frankly, I intend to rhetorically humiliate anyone who ever cites this study at me, publicly and cruelly.)
Gender, New Shitty Terms, Transphobia (--)
@Phorm Would it be any consolation to hear that I just saw that article discussed on Reddit, and it has been ROUNDLY dismissed? All top /r/science comments on it have been completely negative.
You might even laugh when you hear the details: the whole "study" was based on something like 250 parents. From three anti-trans forums. PERIOD. The article is actually under review by the publisher.
There's nothing to be afraid of here, friend. Promise. *hug*

@tastymochafox Royal Grinders is supposed to be really good!
@indi @anthracite Oh, that's different. As far as I'm concerned, faintly *threatening* plutogoetic entities is always a fine idea. :D
@anthracite @indi Yeah, please don't pet the Demiurge, darlin'. ;p <3
Okay fuck this is just a jaw-dropping amazing performance go go go

Feel like a lot of us are getting called out by this Tim Minchin song.
@Austin_Dern First-gen MLP. *blush*
@Soreth Went a bit pear-shaped towards the end, but I'd ride again if given the chance.
