old person media

Huh. Had that neat thing where the people behind two bits of previously unrelated nostalgia turn out to be the same person.

In this case, it was a familiar song from the Dr. Demento radio show ( youtube.com/watch?v=bhjOpm-KL- ), and one from the soundtrack of Robert Altman's Short Cuts, which I saw during a really life-changing film class ( youtube.com/watch?v=t927IWcIBs ).

Both Annie Ross, apparently. Neat.

@Leucrotta Oh, be warned, Kafferep is just their general cookie brand, apparently-- I think what you're looking at are just separate oat biscuits, because I made the exact same mistake. :)

They're also apparently known as a 150-ohmer which is charming as fuck and just makes me think of @acetone_kitten and @Momentrabbit for some reason. :)

@Leucrotta As far as I can tell, they're also known as punsch-rolls, dammsugare, arraksrulle, mergpijpje, or Træstamme. They might be slightly different recipes, though? You might be able to find something similar from another manufacturer if Ikea doesn't do them.

mood (+)

I say completely without irony that I'm so delighted to be bored in Seattle again. :)

Being bored in Ohio was actually rather nice in a lot of ways. And being entertained in Seattle, at Glowtide, was also very nice.

It's also nice to have things back to normal, though. Anthracite's napping, I've got an MST3K on in the background, and I'm just doing my dayjob. We're even on the "easy" cycle of my job, so it's going fast and everything's pretty chill.

Nearly perfect, 4/5. If I hadn't forgotten to buy chicken broth earlier, I'd have tortilla soup and a 5/5.

re: seriously rez where do you find this shit

@coyohti Apparently they played it on USA Network's Night Flight in the 1980s, so it was definitely in circulation! I'm actually kind of surprised I didn't see it back then (or somehow don't remember it) 'cause I loved Night Flight, and that's _exactly_ the sort of video I used to watch it for...

seriously rez where do you find this shit

*BUTTER SODA IS NOH HUSH A BUSH PUSH LEOPOLD

@mmsword Grueling as hell, but it had that redeeming "offended just the right critics for the right reasons" sound to it, so I had to give it a shot.

And it didn't really feel gratuitous or anything, it's just... real dark. It's maybe 3.5-4 Black Mirrors at once? Multiplied by a particularly dark Tennessee Williams play.

@mmsword Heard of "Mercury Fur?"

Note that I'm not necessarily recommending it. Note that I'm also not necessarily saying it isn't good.

(oops, just noticed that the inline version of the GIF in the Corgi IQ test is completely miscropped -- if you watched that instead of the link and wondered what the hell was going on, that's why. :) )

Dammit @anthracite. :D

Still, I _was_ looking for a new vulpine identity... I guess they're an eco-hippie or something. :p

@anthracite That's what happens when you don't have a BIG FRIENDLY TIGER AROUND TO REMIND YOU THAT YOUR BODY NEEDS *FOOD*.

i got lickies from an adorable little pupper waiting at the gate, so everyone is basically forgiven for everything, no complaints here :D
