re: me (+); relationship
Oh, and one other thing: the dragoness is AMAZING. <3 She's been absolutely wonderful through the whole experience, even in moments of huge stress and worry, and I can't tell you how grateful I am that it's her and me for as long as we can make it last. <3
me (+)
Been in weed "withdrawal" for a week; haven't felt a thing except for feverishly vivid REM sleep, which I was really looking forward to anyhow.
Read a bunch of spoilers for old psychological thrillers before bed last night; dreamt accordingly. Didn't really mean to, but I have to admit I still enjoyed it. WILD story about being stalked through an Seattle Center-inspired shopping arcade by a teenaged otherkin I met in a hospital _and_ an assassin (played by Denzel?!) who was trying to kill her.
Still waiting on beds and stuff. We have a friend of a friend in the area who's got to clear out her late parents' house, so we have a lot of freebies being very kindly provided, but it's been a bitch arranging the logistics-- and tbh, after the Amtrak experience, I'm still a tad scared of all the things that could go wrong.
Having a really good chicken salad sandwich at Monkey Monkey Café. Not much else to report, really, except that the weather on the way up was objectively perfect and all you Seattle-ites should be sick with envy. >:D
corporate assholery; Lyft
Oh, look. Evidently Lyft has decided it's not in the transportation business. I guess that means I won't be using them for transportation ever again.

re: move (+ish)
@JulieSqveakaroo The good news is I found you a recipe. The bad news is one of the ingredients is "a package of Creole cream cheese." Oh well. n.n;
the Thing, media, horrible thought (-ish), cryptic Better Call Saul spoilers
It just dawned on me during a Reddit conversation that the relationship I had with Kristy was a lot like the one Jimmy had with Chuck in Better Call Saul.
Jimmy is, of course, no hero. He ends up as Saul Goodman, FFS. This comparison reflects very poorly on BOTH of us. And Chuck was very kind and supporting to Jimmy... until he started contradicting him.
But she is still my sister. I am genuinely glad she did not opt for the lantern option. And looking back, I didn't really want-- or qualify for-- that job at the firm anyhow.

Fig. 1: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Creole_cream_cheese
Creole cream cheese is a traditional Louisiana French cheese made by draining clabber in a cheesecloth sack.

Apparently CCC ice cream is a bit rare these days due to an FDA crackdown on the traditional process (per poorly sourced Wiki assertion), but the New Orleans Ice Cream Co. still makes it!
As noted in the article, it's mild, sweet, and a little tart. Not *quite* as cheesecakey as I'd hoped, but it blended beautifully with the cookie wafers and coating, and in NOLA heat it was a PERFECT soft consistency. Highly recommend; roo _should_ envy. :D
@JulieSqveakaroo Not even Diane? :D
re: move (+ish)
@JulieSqveakaroo Tragically, we haven't gotten to do much food adventuring lately, between my innards being grumpy and generally being low-energy.
However! We did get poboys and Creole cream cheese ice cream sandwiches at the Parkway Bakery, and they were quite comforting. Peg's located a couple local pizza places she likes. And both the brunches we've had in town have been very very good! (I have been conscientiously avoiding the gelateria/Italian bakery until I'm feeling back up to snuff AND have earned the calories...)
re: move (+ish)
In summary... I could learn to really love this city. But I'm really looking forward to January. *pantpantpant*

@anthracite This town's gonna be like an endless goddamn fursuit parade, blocking everyone trying to do NORMAL things because PARTY ÜBER ALLES, isn't it. *sulks like a Yankee* ;>
move (+ish)
Got all our boxen from Amtrak yesterday, still pretty exhausted.
My GERD-related esophagus disorder is doing me a big concern, and I'm a bit worried it's because of the new climate. It's MUGGY AS FUCK here, and sinus pressure makes everything from my neck up 100% worse.
Ran out of mobile hotspot data on Peg's phone, and we're throttled to near-uselessness. Gonna be doing most of my communication from this here cute little cafe ( https://www.yelp.com/biz/monkey-monkey-coffee-and-tea-new-orleans ). They are currently playing "Lonesome Cowboy Bill" by the Velvet Underground. This makes me quite happy. They are our kind of people.
Neighbors are really nice so far. Predominantly black, and while that's a bit of a cultural adjustment after the goddamn chilly white Vikingland I just escaped (no offense) and a childhood amid shitty Ohio racial politics... I'm really glad that adjustment's happening. My main concern is accidentally doing something really dumb and whitebread to annoy them, because they've been absurdly nice to us so far (especially 5 Cats Lady).
re: RL spoiler alert, a word from our sponsor Amtrak
@Austin_Dern Heh. Thank you for the condolences, but *I'm* not sorry. This was someone with a real checkered past that I felt I was kinda doing a favor by putting up with, in the hopes the glimmers of goodness I still saw in them shone through.
Ha ha nope nope nope. I've learned my lesson and am leaving with NO regrets!
On a more important note, I've discovered there's a rather vibrant pinball scene down here and thought of you. :D
re: mh (~), fake introvert issues, social anxiety, spilling some big stuff
@Leucrotta Yeah. Yeah basically. Go with that, I'm 100% fine with it. I learned a REAL long time ago that everybody is different things to different people. <3
