buh, i forgot that there was one last step of actually paying my premiums to BCBS, and that wasn't necessarily going to be a simple matter of keying in some credit card information on some handsomely designed, efficient website

clearly i was a fool

everything *seems* to be set for now, but apparently i am not able to pay online until i get a member id, and i can't get a member id until i pay my first premium...

which means i just got off the phone with the sweetest 126-year-old csr, who was helpful to the absolute best of her abilities but thanks to years and years of unstimulating drudgework had the effective memory of a goldfish

*sigh*

at least she was a very sweet and chipper goldfish, and i'm sure she is a very wise and sensible old lady in a more richly humane context outside of her day job. but it would have been nice if her memory hadn't fully reset itself every time she changed task screens

@Leucrotta @anthracite I'd seen it and been curious about it but it was during one of those "I can't afford the money-cost variety!"</coach_z> periods of my life. :) I'm tempted to see if I can just find a PDF of the cards or something and see if I can crib any good ideas from it. I love card mechanics in RPGs.

@mmsword @anthracite Uh, yeah, but I didn't get very far due to interface/hardware issues. Maybe someday when I have a desktop and a proper num-pad keyboard! What little I did see entirely lived up to its imposing reputation though!

Actually, one of them doesn't count, because instead of mauling him for claiming Reddit's notorious r/The_Donald wasn't racist, I let him off with an extended polite lecture about how, while I could extend him the benefit of the doubt that he didn't *intend* to be racist, nor do many other conservatives, not all racism is overt, conscious, nor actively hateful.
