re: You know what I miss? I miss necroposting.

@anthracite @Balina Huh. Could you pass those Discord to me, darlin'? I'd rather have forums too, but I'm willing to at least go poking around on the Discords for ya, if That's Where The Kids Are These Days. :)

re: parallax request!

@Aradia Right? I'll see if I can dig up the rest of the "opera" for you sometime, it's fascinating stuff.

re: parallax request!

@Aradia I kinda want something like this for the Mixolyne main theme: youtube.com/watch?v=j8dG8adbOX Hooray for the daxophone!

Peg wants "chopped and screwed opera" for the main Vek-10 theme, which I also think could be pretty rad.

re: parallax request!

@Aradia I can easily seeing this as the ending credit theme for a TV episode someday, probably one where Baron K finally fucks off home and flips the Vek-10 the bird. :) Or the one where Olivia eats the [REDACTED] and [REDACTED] in her head and becomes [REDACTED] to deep space.

re: Mega Post (Periodic Elements Personified|)

@violet @PaladinQuinn Thank you! The writing is largely mine so far, but she's also had a lot of influence on that and provided a lot of first drafts... plus, well, the worldbuilding is stuff we've been doing together for years and didn't realize it until we got started on the comic. :)

re: parallax request!, minor/speculative spoilers

@Aradia Oh, believe me, both of those are coming. :) The Vek story is deliberately a bit of a walk in the park so far, but it's going to (to borrow a phrase) escalate quickly once they [QUASI-SPOILER] encounter the Mixolynes...

But I think you could have a point, there might be a way to intensify it a little bit by making it clearer just how badly Liv's attempt to Embrace Her Destiny via the Vexalyne... sphere... thingy... has backfired.

And yeah, Kirt at the VERY least is gonna have their faith in their elders rumbled pretty horribly in Chapter 2! I think you will be pleased at the level of "um, maybe you should tell your elders to fuck right off" subversion that's coming. :> K's probably gonna come to blows with Liv over her cavalier attitude eventually, too...

Thank you so much for the input! <3 <3 <3 I owe you some Tegu stuff real soon...

drugs, music, lewd, kink

Dammit, all I wanna do today is get extremely stoned, dress up in rubber and a facemask, listen to Coil's Love's Secret Domain album, and fuckdroid Peggy senseless.

We really gotta find a hookup in this goddamn POS red state. >___<

re: music, trans pride, blips, drips, strips

@Thaminga I'm ashamed to admit she was in that shadow zone of celebrities who I wasn't sure were alive or not. DELIGHTED to hear she's still kicking, though. We owe her so much, and she's been so undervalued.

re: music, trans pride, blips, drips, strips

also she likes kitties

never have i envied a cousin so much 😻

music, trans pride, blips, drips, strips

Listening to Wendy Carlos's "Secrets of Synthesis" while I work, and absolutely everything about it—from her cheerful historical neepery and charming trace of an accent to the music itself and knowing she's "one of ours"—is making me smile and wonder if things might not work out all right for us after all.

Not many videos of her work in her words on YT, but this is representative of her genius: youtube.com/watch?v=RuT6Y53LYH

Related media: youtube.com/watch?v=WXgNo5Smin Spoiler alert, but I absolutely _love_ the subtle ways this short validates the Wendy Carlos expy's womanhood. Notice what happens during the "augmented 18th" attack...

cafe, Solid Citizens, potential beverage violence

There's some corporate guy sitting five feet away from me, merrily conducting a teleconference on a headset and broadcasting the tragic dullness of his life to all in attendance.

This includes those of us like me who are actually wearing headphones and don't want to crank them up high enough to damage our hearing, just to blot out this guy talking shit about his colleagues' weaknesses.

The worst part is, it's giving me flashbacks to my old job as an audio transcriptionist. I thought I was done forever with having to listen to this kind of inane cargo-cult managerial bullshit. If he's not gone in 30 minutes, he might end up wearing my cafe mocha. >___<

re: parallax request!

@Balinares Not yet! We will be doing a MUCH bigger push for crits and word-of-mouth publicity when that happens, so feel absolutely free to wait until then! We figure that's what a lot of folks are doing, and that is entirely sensible—this is just checking to see if anyone's diving in early! <3

parallax (extremely mild spoilers), princesses and/or power and/or mean-ass sexy catladies

Hashed out another chunk of long-term plot, and I think I know where I want to head for the ending.

Basically, Parallax will be a loving tribute to anyone who's ever had to say—to their friend or to their society—"I love you, I miss you, and I hope we never cross paths again."

It's... been an eventful journey.</kirt> *sighs and stares at a flower bud*

Meanwhile, I finally broke down and binged about half the first season of She-Ra. (I'm at Prom <3 <3 <3 ) Oh god, it's so good, and so sadlarious that any boy on earth managed to look past the exquisite characterization and gorgeous design to say "HURR WHER ADORA BUUBEEZ." Guys... um... the original was not actually good in any way. :( Noelle is kickin' it and you can fuckin' deal. (My massive crush on Entrapta is gonna get punished REAL soon, innit... n.n; )

*cough* Anyhow. She-Ra's really inspired me to heat up the plot faster and kick up the interpersonal drama—and romance—on both sides. After all, the first Parallax story ever was in an issue of Twisted Romance... *dons pirate outfit and points cutlass* SHIPPING LANES AHOY!

parallax request!

Nobody's really said much about the comic so far—which is TOTALLY COOL, I have fallen behind on all my friends' projects too, and I UNDERSTAND. But if you are reading it and enjoying it, please let us know! And for those of you who have—thank you—we'd love to hear some more details about what you like and don't like!

We are at a real early developmental phase, and I AM NOT UNWILLING TO PANDER TO MY FRIENDS. Parallax was designed from the ground up to appeal to a young queer audience, with at least one trip to the "Frosting Factory" (eye candy, cute things, shipping opportunities) and one to the "Fireworks Factory" (fencing, fighting, torture, revenge...) per chapter.

So if there's anything you'd like to see come up in the comic—a pairing, a conflict, a weird species, an adventure scenario, a particular piece of TF bait—please do speak up! <3

And if there's something about it that's just not working for you, this is a CRUCIAL moment to let us know how we can change course. No pressure, but anything you can give us would be awesome. Thank you so much!

cayenne-pepper flavor-blasted genderpol hot take

"Alpha male" and "Beta male" are both social genders. They both describe people with an XY chromosome pair who lack traditionally "masculine" traits.

If the alt-right really believed Gender Is Biology And That's That, everybody with an XY pair would be accorded the exact same "status," because as we all know, Gender Is Stored In The Balls. But instead, they have a whole system of descriptors for people whose social gender and biological sex don't match up by their standards.

They were never sincere about not believing gender is a cultural construct. And they clearly think it's useful to have a spectrum of descriptors for gender variance. They obviously believe people exist who don't act like the stereotype of their sex.

Their only real objection was the lack of innate stigma in our own categories. They merely insist that any term for it should recapitulate a hierarchy with "real men" on top. They just don't want people who don't fit their ideals to have any escape route from that hierarchy.

In summary, my name is Rezeya Montecore-St-Hobbes, and I believe Stefan Molyneux and Ben Shapiro should be publicly fed to jungle cats while we all laugh at them. Thank you for your time.

netpol, hunting grounds, Martian breakfast, good morning! (+)

🎵 Oh, start your day the Martian way, and chew on a Pepe's face!

The funnest part is when they scream "ad hominem! facts not feels!" and I link them to the rationalwiki page explaining, suddenly very polite, that's not how ad hominem works.

Oh, I got a spare fedora, anybody want one? It's a bit bloody and clawmarked. =^___^=

re: Mega Post (Periodic Elements Personified|)

@violet @kittypuffreloaded@lgbtq.cool @PaladinQuinn Hey, that's my wife's deck! :D If you'd like to see what she's up to now, have a look at egypt.urnash.com/parallax/ -- we've got a web comic!

Hope you don't mind the bit of shameless promotion, but a friend pointed me to this thread. Anthropomorphized chemical elements are right up my alley. :)

lovable monsters, cw: so very many eyes =^^^=

Some teacher did that neat thing where they have an art class full of kids draw something, then pass it off to college-age artists to redraw. Here's some of the best of this batch...
