@hystericempress "Mi deh fi tek wha's mine!" <3 <3 <3 She even inspired me to spend a little time reading up on Patois, introducing me to what is now my favorite translation of "I'm fine, I guess": "Mi deh yah." ("I'm there, yeah.") Boy, *that's* a mood.

@Cerulean @anthracite If he lived in a hotel in Reno with a bunch of furries, I met him. And I feel like even if I didn't meet him, I met him.

@anthracite Advice to all who are reading: you gotta get you a partner who can eviscerate Anton LaVey with snark at a moment's notice. 😻😻😻

anxiety, satire, cat health (- but probably trivially minor), my health (--- but definitely imaginary)

This is a damn near perfect metaphor for my anxiety disorder. (Example: We found a tiny bald patch on Artie. It's probably a flea bite. She is a street kitty. This is not dire nor astonishing. But I can't stop fretting over it for NO REASON. Also my heart palpitated ONCE this morning and I AM DEFINITELY DYING YOU GUYS, MY HINDBRAIN ASSURES ME IT IS TRUE, GOODBYE.)

re: cat pics

@balinares Correct. Also Shoomp, Shempers, Shompers, Shoompers, and once in a while, His Royal Highness, Prince Shempington Shempley the Shempty-Shompth. *nod*

cat pics

Here's a pic of the four scraggles, circa last December, and a comparison pic of Shemp in his current catamountain form... Sometimes I wonder if he didn't just kinda absorb his brothers when we weren't looking... :O

@001zlnv @anthracite Ah, but doesn't the loaf technically require the paws to be tucked UNDER the body?

I feel that just knowing Shadow and Sugarfoot makes me an expert on this topic, especially since knowing the difference between a loaf and a sploot is the difference between life and death when petting Sugarfoot. :p

@anthracite Oops, correction, it has come to my attention that technically "couchant" is not a sploot, which would involve the legs being splayed out *behind* the cosmic pupper in question.

Which just makes me want to commission a heraldic guide (featuring Rezy in full Imperial Martian regalia) that does include a sploot.

whither the zebras of today (~)

Earache/clog is finally subsiding a little bit, enough that I might be able to halfway focus on work. Dealer is showing up tonight with a half ounce. Peggy got her Crazy Magick Jackals Book and it is indeed crazy and magickal. Shadow and Peebs and even Ceejay seemed relatively cheerful this morning.

And I found a bunch of pics from back when Shemp and his three brothers (sadly MIA, but we're ~80% sure at least two of them found good homes!) were teeny scraggly little kittens. And my parents are about to get their 2nd vaccine doses. And I might have mine within the month.

Am I finally going to have a good, normal day? It's been like three weeks. >_<

@Phorm @anthracite You and I should talk about this topic sometimes, geniefox-- it sounds like we both potentially fit in the same box of "mystical rationalist" and I'd love to share some of my observations about how a magickal worldview can be useful even in a world with strictly conventional, rational metaphysical causality and no major obvious loopholes...

vaxx (+++)

Per the New Orleans subreddit, we are right on the cusp of opening vaccinations to everyone 18 and up. Next Monday. Time to get my butt in gear.

cats (~)

We booted Artie back into the rain, mainly due to a lack of litterbox supplies for an overnighter, and my heart is broken! One million years jail for Father. ;____;

Somebody please reassure me of the blatantly obvious fact that an adult cat who grew up outdoors in New Orleans is perfectly equipped to surive a little heavy rain, even if Artie's probably not thrilled right now. :)

cats! (~), trivial/daily life

Caved in and let Shadow and Artie hide out from today's thunderstorms a little bit. To my utter amazement, they both herded up at the door and asked to be let outside, even though it's soaking wet outside. Granted, there was a little food out there to sweeten the deal...

It's nice how well we're all starting to understand each other. I think they're starting to recognize when they've overstayed their welcome and at least these two will often just kinda let themselves out without a fuss.

*glowers at scratch on left wrist* I REALLY wish Sugarfoot would take a few hints from them. >___<

birdsite, discourse, annoyance, snark (-)

I keep forgetting not to ever, ever, ever use irony around Earnest Young Leftists and expect it to be understood. I keep expecting that since we're The Good Smart Ones we'll be better at reading between the lines, but we're not, we're just not.

@Soreth Indeed, but it also makes me sad that he apparently beat the Wreckoons guy to this historic gaming first...
