health scare update (+~)

Okay, I've done enough research to finally reassure myself that there are a whole ton of other, non-scary explanations for the suspicious spot my dentist found. I'm doing good enough that I can shrug, say "OK, I really don't have enough information about to justify an existential crisis over this, let's just chill out and wait."

Thank you for putting up with that moment of panic. :)

slight health un-scare :)

A little further reading reveals there's a condition called "oral dysplasia" which can be a cancer precursor but isn't malignant in itself, and it looks a LOT like the little red dent I've got. It sounds like there's a serious chance this is "that thing we caught early enough that nothing actually bad will happen beyond some dental bills." That's at least the magic feather I needed to continue about my day... after a nice nap to drain out the last of the panic juice.

health scare, dental stuff

Right now I'm feeling shaken but strong. And REALLY wishing medical websites would talk more about all the things that might NOT be wrong with you. ;p I haven't been able to find much discussion of non-cancer possibilities, but given my past experience with WebMD Panic Syndrome, I'm assuming hundreds of them exist. :p

So yeah. I am probably passing along worry over absolutely nothing but I gotta dump this last little bit of anxiety here, be brave, and get back to work

health scare, dental stuff

I freaked myself out completely at first with the fact that, well, it is a little red sore, and it hasn't healed in about a month. But then I called home and talked to my mom a little for some reassurance, and...

Well, I'll level with you. It's tiny. It's literally smaller than the head of a pin. It's not even particularly raised, it's just a tiny little red divot. If I understand right, it's like Stage 0.0001 and they are profoundly likely to nail it.

So last week I broke down and got my first dental cleaning in over five years.

And one of the hygienists found a lump. They didn't test it then and there because I wasn't sure what lump they were talking about, so I didn't know if it had been there for not. But I finally found what I think they were talking about... and yeah, it's been there for about a month.

I scheduled an oral cancer screening for this Tuesday.

Watched Grendel Grendel Grendel with Peg. Wonderful film, tragic that it was never particularly famous. Probably identified far, far, far too much with Grendel for it to be a healthy sign, but I can't pretend I didn't see a whole lot of myself in the big galoot. I mean, he's fierce but sensitive, I'm fierce but sensitive, he's a folk devil, I'm a folk devil, he likes hurting beardy violent guys, I like hurting beardy militant guys... I just don't get what everybody's problem with him was. =^__^=

friends (+~)

You're maddening, you often terrify me, I could argue with you for hours about some of the things you post... but you're all just so god damned adorable anyhow. <3

bad people, bad social media (+!?)

We found a TERF on Twitter who is accusing people of "hacking" her... because we "somehow" figured out where she was posting from.

Yeah, um, she left her location settings on.

A bunch of us are trying to figure out whether this is 8th-dimensional hyperidiot satire that's Just Too Sophisticated For Us, or a genuine 20-something with the mentality and technical acuity of a Facebook Gramma.

New friends, snark, a bloodied (fake?) TERF... good times had by all!

mood (-) (silly but true)

Fuck it. I'm gonna watch Rosemary's Baby in the background while I catch up on geo work.

And I'm gonna root for Satan all the way.

mood (-) (silly but absolutely true)

Current mood: Filking classic Sesame Street numbers with lyrics about the benefits of mass human extermination. ( o/` Don't matter that death ain't bad enough for the loathsome human race... o/` )

It did, and I'm starting to think that once the Revolution is over, I'm gonna need that Wall for a few of my Fellow Travelers. I trust you will do the right thing and look the other way.

If it turns into transphobia, which is starting to look inevitable... well, don't mind the crackling and glowing, that's just fire and contorted human bodies.

Did I mention I l LOVE it when Super Woke leftist communities that preach about their own open-mindedness show blatant prejudice against a group that's not on their Tolerance Whitelist?

Tried explaining to an anti-Nazi sub how MLP fandom could be a trans thing, not a "pervert thing" and am not only getting downvoted, but getting the same snotty "it's a show for little girls, you monster!" bullshit I expect from right-wing moralists.

Fuck my allies.

Okay, Plan B: pack up all my desire not to work today into a little ball, focus it into mana, and use it to fuel The Song That Will End All Existence.

I'll try to give y'all 5-10 minutes warning.

Another sample card:

"New Hospital Wing"

Flavor Text: "Will Dr. Prowler please report to... um... really high-up branch?"

Ooh, NOW this feels semi-practical.

Note to self: the element of non-determinism comes from a "Dyagnozis" phase. Disease cards are dealt face down and have to be flipped up. Until then, you can see how many diseases a patient has, but not what they are! You can try to treat a patient with an unflipped disease, but that also flips it over... and triggers a Contayjun-check event, because you didn't use proper Prowta Kal!

Strategy involves balancing safe, low-hanging fruit (well, low-hanging microbes) with taking out huge, dangerous high-point disease stacks, and beating your opponents to good resources.

Cards include "Plague God" ["BWAAAAAAHAAAAHAAA!"], "Monolith" ["Suddenly it's all so clear! I just keep banging the rocks together!"], and "Mutagen X" ["It was supposed to be a deadly bioweapon, but humans are just so bad at everything..."]

Card game idea: "Trash Panda Hospital."

You are the hopsitul amdinistraiter of a treeful of sick raccoons. Hire raccoon docturs, nersis, and speshulisds to scavenge the hyumin city and find shiny objects to treet your payshunts. But try not to catch their dizeezes!

My dreams: Oh, you really need to work on your Through The Ages strategy. Take more yellow cards and focus less on military. You're welcome. Also, you went on vacation, and a really pretty dog pooped on your blanket.
