Fascism in the Workplace
My company's InfoSec group just put this MOTD in place for all users SSHing into our private internal dev server.
What possible benefit could result from this blatant fascist scare tactic? I just can't understand why companies so frequently treat their employees like criminals.
These sorts of messages are effectively microaggressions against those most negatively affected by late stage capitalism. They hurt the soul in a similar way.
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr I accidentally hit a shelled into a customer switch with one of those a couple weeks ago and yeaaah they're pretty damned shaking for no real gain.
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr wow... I like that they did not even bother to update $company_name.
Fascism in the Workplace
@wobblewuffess I edited that in for CYA purposes.
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr Aww.. that would have made it even more amusing... but damn. Some our IT owned hardware some similar stuff on it... Ops owned hardware does not..
Just a quick dump of the last year of Slog messages.
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr silly employee, don’t you know earning rather than mandating loyalty and hard work is an action for people who can’t simply serially hire then burn out employees?
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr You should start typing your company's name as $COMPANY_NAME everywhere. Desktop, documents, anything internal. Make logo stickers to go on existing objects.
Fascism in the Workplace
@ElectricKeet That was my edit for CYA reasons. >..>
But still. X3
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr The clear solution is to add a *massive* mocking version of that header on every email to the InfoSec group. :)
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr Working in government desensitized me to that crap. It's everywhere to the point where you start to tune it out like advertising. @_@
Fascism in the Workplace
@mawr I'm not saying I grew up war-dialling in the 80s, gracious no. I was a good kid, never did anything untoward. Wouldn't want to imply otherwards!
... I'm just saying *some* people once might have considered such boilerplate the equivalent of a starter's pistol going off. n.n
(mmm, surprisingly warm fuzzies from this, actually. Not why you shared it, but Young Me thanks you for the reminder.)
((er. of who we weren't, of course.))
Fascism in the Workplace
