Since it is hard to find articles that are positive and not ableist about how autistic brains work, I am going to make a small thread about the main things that we know at the moment. I hope this helps any autistic people who are curious about themselves. I am not an expert, this is just what I learned from my neuroscience course. I will first explain some basics of neuroscience, for people who aren't familiar with biology, so you don't have to have any prerequisite knowledge to understand any of this :) If I accidentally leave some of the basics out, feel free to ask me to clarify. I don't know everything but I'll try my best to help :)

White supremacy is deeper than some people think

It's easy to believe that your conditions are fine, that you can put up with them. But once you get out, once you find better, and can heal and discover just how painful things really were, it's a big thing.

I'm more than grateful that I was able to get away, and even if my healing has been slow, even if I feel like I should be better off than I am by now, it's important. It really is.

I find it interesting how the only people in this day and age who idolize Daryl Davis are the reactionaries who want to use his body of work to stop efforts to fight fascism in a much more direct way. And today he's come out speaking against antifa and how we're oh so violent.

All I gotta say is, It's only a matter of time. You break bread with fascists long enough, and eventually you'll fall into their habits and mannerisms. I need to emphasize that while Daryl Davis may have once been an ally, he is now an enemy, he's been co-opted and taken in by the modern language of neo-fascists. He's bought into the respectability politics when de-escalation is no longer a viable option today.

It's no longer the 1960's where racists are emboldened to go out and about with skinhead tattoos, and wear bedroom sheets with the Klansman logo on them. Modern fascism is a lot more subtle, insidious, subversive and dangerous, with the public image of them being the clean-cut, clean shaven models of Americans you wouldn't suspect to be out of place in the 1950's.

Remember, out and about villains are easy to identify, but the truly ugly, the truly dangerous people are the ones who hide behind virtue. Don't be fooled.

I am not lazy. You are not lazy. Stop acting like throwing such a damaging word around to write others off is okay.

Also, two points. A democratically held decision can and should be violently opposed from an anarchist perspective if it contradicts freedom of people, in spite of impossibility of forcing people into freedom. Oppressed must be violemtly defended. And all of this is hypothetical, because neither western liberal democratic states, nor authoritarian states are democratic. They lack work place and or political democracy at every level. They are symbolically democratic, and that's only national level and that's limited in options by non-democratic nature of other apects of life and geographiv levels, but also by state legality amd nature of party structure. So, this isn't democracy. But more democracy isn't alwaya good either. Worst dictators are elected by more democratic than usual election processes. Democracies that are accidentally formed have a tendency to relapse and most social structures are formed accidentally. And ideologically democratic groups tend to show chauvenistic tendencies out of sense of superiority. More democracy isn't exactly the solution.

But having democracy at every aspect of life, economy etc included, would be closest to anarchy, without actually being anarchy. Because then you can technically vote any hierarchy into power.
