Where the hell did I go? (social anxiety, mh-)
Once upon a time, I was a regular on several IRC channels and MUCKs. I could pop in and out anytime with zero obligations, and I was unafraid to participate.
Nowadays I'm down to small Telegram chats with folks I've known since forever, and those tend to be brief because I guess don't have what it takes to keep a conversation going anymore.
I can't seem to make myself dive into anyplace where I don't already know at least a couple folks. Even if I do know some folks I'm anxious because I feel so far out of touch and I might:
• step on toes and give myself more intrusive memories of awkward encounters;
• get overwhelmed by walls of text and then feel bad about not keeping up;
• have to deal with willfully ignorant shitheads that everyone else tolerates;
• or have to dodge popular folks that I stay away from for serious reasons.
Heck, all of this is why I don't even toot much. It feels like too much risk.
I do not know what the fuck to do.

@LexYeen My spouse is amazing at coming up with builds to make any character concept not just viable but extremely effective. Even traditionally weak combos can be pushed to surprising places... especially when one has the cash to completely outfit a character with full IO sets.
Of course, we're still limited by the costume creator. Horsey stuff when? *sigh* I wanna be a magical unicorn who mows down fascists with horn lasers. *nods*

theres this like, liminal creepypasta backrooms zone on the web when you have to get to a weird part of a government or corporate website to access some kind of unusual form or request which theyre technically supposed to provide but hasn't been updated for at least 15 years, and you see multiple different web design styles and fads as you climb deeper and deeper into the site, and when you click 'submit', probably a thermal printer fires up somewhere and prints a receipt directly into the trash

@packbat That's a good point, and part of what prompted this poll in the first place. I realized that I'd never really come up with a good clear answer for what would work well... and judging by what art I can dig up, most folks haven't. :)
