[1.Ch.] A Link to the Past Randomizer Shenanigans
@ElectricKeet and I decided to play a randomizer run tonight. Opted to pick Ganondorf as the character, 'cause now this is a journey of self-empowerment to overcome his dark impulses.
First items found were Blue Mail, Pegasus Boots, Magic Cape, Power Gloves, and Staff of Samaria.
Ganondorf is apparently a magical girl superhero in this run.
request for trans-friendly press contact in Seattle
Can anyone in the Seattle area recommend trans-friendly press contacts to talk to? I may have a lead on discrimination by government employees for them to look into.
Not immediate or urgent, but I want to be able to pass these contacts along if they’re needed.
massive news in the speedrunning world
so uh. there's ACE in OoT now.
It is time for... Rydeen on the accordion.
Youtube, Google, widespread account terminations
Markiplier put on a Youtube livestream to promote the new (really awesome) choose-your-own-adventure YT series thing he put out. In the stream he played through the game and asked chat to use specific emotes to vote which way to go.
Google’s automated systems detected this as malicious spam and completely terminated the entire Google account of hundreds of viewers.
Mark is so pure though, he’s personally championed calling out Google to fix it, probably to his own massive detriment. Last I heard he got through to someone I guess, so it’s being fixed now. Only because a major producer called them out.
However it highlights something important: Google can yeet you for any reason and if they do, you lose access to all your services. Automated anti-harassment/anti-spam catches you in a false positive on Youtube? You lose your gmail, docs, android account, everything.
Every single person who appealed for reinstatement got denied by another automated system, and then were told “there is nothing more you can do, this is the end of the workflow”.
YT also just updated their TOS to express they can and will terminate accounts that are “commercially nonviable”, meaning they’ve put on the table that they can terminate you if your footprint-to-profit ratio is low.
Do not rely on Google. If you have YT vids, back them up. If you rely on gmail, consider an alternative; especially for emailed 2FA logins.

4. NES roms.
if you want hyper sentient dog scientists in the year 40,000 to be able to run your software, write it as an NES rom. trust me on this.
Mysterious disappearance from Wikipedia?
In 1985, Nintendo put demonstration kiosks called the "M82" (who knows why?) in stores looking to sell the system and its games. Similar in concept to a Play-Choice 10, it had twelve slots one could elect from and a knob in back to change the maximum play duration. Working units are rare and sell for thousands of dollars.
Search for the thing on English Wikipedia? Get nothing, zilch.
On French Wikipedia? https://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_M82
On Finnish Wikipedia? https://fi.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nintendo_M82
In places that have obviously taken text, links, and all from English Wikipedia? https://enacademic.com/dic.nsf/enwiki/2728052 (and others).
But currently, English Wikipedia knows absolutely nothing of it, and that's throwing me for a loop. How does that even happen?
