romaine lettuce food safety psa

cdc.gov/ecoli/2018/o157h7-11-1

tl;dr: 32 people in the US and 18 people in Canada have shown illness symptoms from Shiga toxin-producing E. coli on romaine lettuce, including at least one kidney failure. Source unknown - discard any romaine lettuce you have, clean out the refrigerator where it was stored, and do not purchase or eat any.

Wait.

If it’s International Men’s Day and International Toilet Day, does that average out to International Urinal Day? Do those big industrial troughs like on the ferry count?

Legitimately hate how any time anybody has a problem with any piece of software or a website, programmers/engineers get blamed/ridiculed instead of Literally Anybody Else Involved In Making Product Decisions

:plush:🏙📣❕Suspended Instance mstdn.foxfam.club (cw: us politics, nationalism)

This instance (especially this bot mstdn.foxfam.club/@d3vnull) was clearly purpose-built to put the views & beliefs of white nationalists and fascists onto our timelines.

We here at ✨Plush✨ City are opposed to white nationalism and fascism in all its forms. As such, we actively work to de-platform white nationalists, whenever possible. This is such an act; we encourage other #mastoadmin folks to join us in solidarity.

white leds don't emit light directly - they excite a phosphor, similar to how a crt works.

and we're slowly using them to replace orange sodium vapor streetlights.

This One Weird Track Will Blow Your Mind

Since few folks ever actually got this far in the NES game Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (you know, the first one with that timed swim-to-defuse-bombs-in-the-dam level?) most of you won't have heard this hidden gem from the fifth overworld area:

There's something hauntingly catchy about the way it plays out, the way it loops. I think it's a perfect groove for the closest the game has to a "stealth" section.

In an earlier thread, I wrote briefly about trans people in medieval Europe, and discussed some of the main issues when studying the medieval history of trans people.

Today, if you'll indulge me, I want to spend some time discussing a single person in detail. I want to talk about the way she's been written about, and about her and what she can teach us about life as a trans person 600 years ago.

This is the story of Eleanor Rykener.
