If Hbomberguy's stream touched you in a meaningful way, consider supporting @QuestForTori and her game 'Secret Little Haven' available on itch and Steam ! It tells the story of a trans girl living on the internet in the turn of Y2K.

@typhlosion Voting OneShot or Wandersong, because the former has been really great to watch on Speedgaming, and the latter is just all around wonderful from start to finish.
thoughts about hbomb and the fundraiser
cool. seeing lots of takes. and i'm fucking tired and burnt out on this place. my only take about the hbomb stuff?
it shows that there's a groundswell of people who care enough about trans people to throw money, the lifeblood of our capitalist society, at helping trans people in a far more direct way than posting shitty thinkpieces.
as trans people, we tend to condemn cis people who don't understand, noting understanding is their work, not ours. then, when they try to understand, we tend to default to criticizing that as performative. this is fucking bullshit imo.
i really can't bring myself to believe, logically, that this whole thing is performative. for me, as a trans person, this whole fundraiser is giving me an amazing feeling. it seems like, maybe, random people are just starting to not default to hating us.
it's not ideal – ideally, it wouldn't be necessary. but it's setting up a strong precedent for 2019. a really fucking strong one.
warframe, old hardware
Update: it’s just barely playable. On the other hand, it plays _great_ on one of our Wavebirds, so that’s going to be a thing.

Just because we have the technology does not mean we should.

re: Did something happen on Mastodon?
@XerTheSquirrel Yeah, things are fine. This is an opinion writer trying to grind their preferred axe.
I posted a longer response to it earlier that summarizes: bad takes predicting collapse are generally a good sign a platform is succeeding.
Did something happen on Mastodon?
@XerTheSquirrel Someone posted an opinion piece on DailyDot proclaiming that Mastodon was crumbling, and it was enough of a bad take that it went viral.
re: silly about the dd article, slightly more serious take
@Taylor It’s possibly a worse take, because the primary argument is a specific instance isn’t talking about the same topics as Twitter, backing this with minimal supporting evidence beyond a single user perspective.
Much of the depth of a modern communication platform occurs in private messaging, in interconnections between communities, etc etc etc. It’s difficult to even gain traction on the article’s opinions in that context.
question for folks at the intersection of LGBTQIA+, disabilities, and tech, interviews
For reasons, I’m interested in things interviewers have done for you to help you feel included, especially things that pierce way-too-common misogyny and ableism in tech interviews.
This isn’t a request to have folks interview where I work, so please understand I’m not in that position. But if you know of things that have helped you feel more comfortable with being interviewed, please throw them my way?
silly about the dd article, slightly more serious take
Also, bad takes from opinion writers are one of the best signs a technology is succeeding outside of the mainstream.
For folks that remember when Second Life was new and trendy, bad takes about the inevitable collapse because “these kids aren’t paying attention to the REAL issues” were common. And like Masto, the leftist queer and queer-adjacent communities did just fine, despite ownership of the platform being problematic.
So, yeah.
