We reinforced the gaming table, and it is now unexpectedly acoustic. I didn’t know drum tables are so saaaatisfying.

I missed the transfer window for my old PC profile, so I’m starting over fresh on the Switch version. And, holy heck has everything gotten polished and extremely pretty since I last played.

Time to go out to the plains and have a blast.

Update: it’s just barely playable. On the other hand, it plays _great_ on one of our Wavebirds, so that’s going to be a thing.

@XerTheSquirrel Yeah, things are fine. This is an opinion writer trying to grind their preferred axe.

I posted a longer response to it earlier that summarizes: bad takes predicting collapse are generally a good sign a platform is succeeding.

@XerTheSquirrel Someone posted an opinion piece on DailyDot proclaiming that Mastodon was crumbling, and it was enough of a bad take that it went viral.

@Soreth @Taylor I love the smell of late-stage capitalism and tyrannical majorities in the morning. The raging dumpster fire really adds atmosphere.

@Taylor It’s possibly a worse take, because the primary argument is a specific instance isn’t talking about the same topics as Twitter, backing this with minimal supporting evidence beyond a single user perspective.

Much of the depth of a modern communication platform occurs in private messaging, in interconnections between communities, etc etc etc. It’s difficult to even gain traction on the article’s opinions in that context.

For reasons, I’m interested in things interviewers have done for you to help you feel included, especially things that pierce way-too-common misogyny and ableism in tech interviews.

This isn’t a request to have folks interview where I work, so please understand I’m not in that position. But if you know of things that have helped you feel more comfortable with being interviewed, please throw them my way?

Also, bad takes from opinion writers are one of the best signs a technology is succeeding outside of the mainstream.

For folks that remember when Second Life was new and trendy, bad takes about the inevitable collapse because “these kids aren’t paying attention to the REAL issues” were common. And like Masto, the leftist queer and queer-adjacent communities did just fine, despite ownership of the platform being problematic.

So, yeah.

I’m kind of hoping someone posts a delicious Mastodon crumble recipe, because I will totally make it.
