subtweet, someone reminded me that The Dark Crystal existed and I'm now thinking of rewatching it. While I liked the movie itself enough, the part that really grabbed me as a kid was, people *made* this whole alien, fantasy world. I could maybe make something that big, too.
Of course... I despair at ever getting to make something and put it out there the same way. A lot of stuff feels off limits or too intimidating tbh. And I feel like I'm running out of time. *spins off into depressive bleagh*
Lastly I got a couple photos of this train pulling from a spur near the park. I’m not good enough to recognize motive power but this engine isn’t the usual BNSF stuff I usually see here.
The DNR had done a controlled cut of the forest and even if it was horrifying I felt like it was worth photographing something like this, that I and other folks don’t get to see that much devastation. I was struck by how they left some stands as a forest fire might.
Not sure if the shots of the waterfall from up close really justified clambering down to here, but hey…
Okay my hot take is, Matrix Revolutions is a better movie than Matrix Reloaded. The pacing is better even though there are still problems, there's some really cool stuff. The movie's biggest problems are all End of Trilogy trying to wrap up *everything* in a satisfying way.
Also I fucked up being a stoner again. I got way into the movie and forgot to have an edible, I'm dead sober now.
"Although only the human mind could create something as insipid as love. Why why why Mister Anderson, why do you persist?" And then Neo wrapped arms around Smith, their lips touching carefully in the rain, and finally Smith knew why he'd been fighting this hard all along.
omg it's a Dark Knight Returns tribute or something. I forgot they had a Dark Knight Returns part. This isn't a big muddy hole in the ground, this is a comic I've read before.
"Welcome to Smith World, Mister Anderson. It's a land of slow, very carefully enunciated diction where everyone has arched eyebrows. You can get pop and a hot dog at The Smith Shack, ride Smith Mountain and get your photograph taken with any of the many Agents Smith here!"
but naw, they have a huge kung fu fight instead.
See, I can tell these guys are heroes because they have no helmets, really angry expressions and are discharging storm bolters in no particular direction.
"You were always an asshole Gorman." DAKKA DAKKA DAKKA
I think I may quit soon, this is a really long 2+ hour movie.
Whoa they mixed the Millenium Falcon ball turret sequence and the Aliens power loader sequence!
Currently, part of my brain is screaming about how the APUs are in a fairly close line with no reserves and my inner 10 year old is screaming at me to shut up because this is awesome.
wow. So they got Ian Bliss to play Hugo Weaving who's playing Jack Nicholson. It's arched eyebrows all the way down.
Meanwhile, back in Starship Troopers, it's time for an inspiring speech! A day in the Corps is like a day on the farm! Every meal's a fortune! You smash the entire area, you kill everything that has more than two legs, you get me?
so despite this endangering the party, the hovercraft and Zion, Neo decides he has to confront The Oracle about why she lied about Vader being his father or w/e, it's very player character, and she tells him that the Kwisatz Haderach can see back through genetic history.
After much backflipping our heroes outfight the Billy Corgan gang and bust into the play party where the GM has given their Ventrue nemesis an accent Frencher and thicker than vichyssoise. Oh hey, there's that Nosferatu or possibly Bone Gnawer NPC again.
aw man who invited the 2nd Amendment nuts to the play party? NOT MY KINK MAN. Safeword! Safeword!
For a Virtual Adept running BART off a server in his closet this dude sure looks like he's a Vampire or Werewolf NPC.
*watches five more minutes*
Yep, they're definitely in someone's Vampire chronicle. Morpheus is twin wielding SP5s versus some dude with kote doing backflips on the ceiling. I am not making this up but am waiting a little longer before I declare this the best movie in the trilogy.
* starts Matrix Revolutions, but no edible yet *
The grid. A digital frontier. I tried to picture packets of information as they moved through the server.
Okay, so let's see, the PCs are getting sidetracked by a batch of stuff so the GM has the Oracle call and say they're needed in Oakland
while Neo's so Extremely Online he's stuck at the Orinda BART station potentially forever.
Lots of random gunk, but some drawings and cooking talk too. Obsesses about DnD and related topics. Left-leaning/profoundly frustrated politics. Black lives matter; trans rights are human rights.
