@starkatt @noelle my prediction (for the two pennies it's worth): this is the beginning of 45's pardoning phase, in which his pardons will become more frequent, flagrant, and upsetting. he's doing this in part to set a precedent of "you can get away with anything as long as I approve of it" which he hopes will carry over for his eventual trial(s), as well as currying favor with the people he's currently courting.
ooooohhhhh... this pings several of my interests. http://longnow.org/

woo
@Oneironott I actually had a very similar question for @literorrery a couple days ago. the answer, for me, is that I want to recover the abilities I used to have and lost (Because Reasons), and I want to recover and use them because 1. I want to connect to my deity better 2. I want to reconnect to my past in a way I can't currently 3. life was just more fun and exciting when I was able to do that stuff.
it's okay to just want more. that's an okay thing to want. :)
@zebratron2084 because of this link I have just learned about celestial centaurs.
@zebratron2084 I am laughing SO HARD omg hard to breathe
@Jacel yay! :D
@zebratron2084 oh wow. oh wow. yessss. wow. (my "secret passage behind the wall" is like this; it's stable enough that I've found it in multiple dreams, leading to and from different places, usually involving a warehouse space that is being interstitially and illicitly inhabited, mostly by artists)
@Jacel aaaaaaaa!! I immediately ran for my bird ID tools and it's a gray jay! they're known for friendly, inquisitive behavior. yay feather fren! I am jealous! and also aaaa that is awesome! :D (seriously I'm sitting here grinning like a loon, heeee)
@Jacel ooh, yes! high! :D nice view! and the scenery is pretty too. ;)
@kara_dreamer@witches.town I vaguely remember a very nice deck that I saw once decades ago, that was--the concepts of the Rider-Waite deck pared down to extremely basic symbols, but very elegantly done; the best description I could give it now is "a graphic designer/typesetter's ideal Tarot." and yeah, that one seemed *very* suited towards reversed-meanings.
and yeah, Silicon Dawn is complicated enough without "reversed" cards! XD
@mawr fantastic! oh wow, so exciting! :D
@guerrillarain@witches.town the Ancillary Justice series sort of counts, in that the default pronoun for everybody is female, and it isn't "clarified" for like 80% of the characters, so there's a lot of relationships that parse as queer women. XD
I just finished reading the Fifth Season trilogy, and there's an explicitly queer female couple in that, as well as abundant bi/queer relationships and casual trans people.
@kara_dreamer@witches.town one person I did readings for with a R-W deck complained that her readings were always weird and incomprehensible. after I laid out the cards, I suddenly realized the problem was that they were ALL upside-down. I swapped places with her, and was able to do a perfectly comprehensible, useful reading! this happened three times with this same person!
@kara_dreamer@witches.town for me it absolutely depends on the deck. decks that adhere closely to Rider-Waite are usually good with reversed meanings; the deck I use now, Silicon Dawn, seems to laugh at orientation. I could *not* figure out why I had two 6 of pentacles the other day until I realized I had one 6 and one 9 and the 9 is deliberately orientation-skewed!
